We needed a scanner, we had holiday money to spend and, of course, I checked epinions! We chose this scanner because it got the best reviews overall from all sources. It was not too expensive, not too cheap and had all the features we wanted.
Anyone can use this scanner - it doesn't take up much space, it's light and set up perfectly with my Dell Dimension desktop. One click and it works! It also came with all the software you need to modify your scans.
So far I've scanned tons of photos and documents - even receipts for my expense reports - easy peasy!
I admit, I am somewhat geeky so I'm not looking at this as someone who doesn't like technology - I love technology - but it seemed REALLY simple to me - so it's likely to be simple for you too.
For the record, I used the scanner with Windows 98 and it worked quite well. It comes with PhotoDeluxe software and some other extras that you can use to edit your photos. They made it easy to upload your photos to the 'net on MyCircles.com , which has since gone out of business. It's very easy now to find other places to upload your photos.
I have since moved on to Windows2000 and haven't used the scanner yet...will report back when I try it. I hope this makes the review more helpful! UPDATE: Works fine with Windows 2000 with the appropriate driver downloaded from the Epson website.
