undergraduate's Full Review: Epson Photo / All In one InkJet Printer
I was in search of a printer after my HP All In One printer just wasn't working anymore. I don't know if other people have had problems with printers, but I just haven't found a printer that would last more then a year. So with an HP that was dead and my printer before that being a Lexmark, I decided that I needed a different brand since both of those brands have left a bad taste in my mouth. This is where the Epson Stylus Photo RX595 comes into play. I was walking around the printer section at best buy and looking at printers online and I just couldn't ignore the fact that I haven't heard anyone I know say that their Epson printer was no good and all the reviews online were backing that up.
Beyond the price, which was very reasonable since it was on sale. The factors that sold me this printer were the expected durability as noted above, the fact that the printer cartridges were individual (anyone who has had the HP multi color cartridges just stop working for no reason will know this is a good feature), and overall options of the printer.
Installing the printer was no problem it connected right up to my computer and worked great from the start. The longest part of the installation was taking it out of the box and plastic and removing all blue tape that held the panels on during shipment.
I've had the printer for about 3 months now and I haven't had any real problems with it. If you turn the printer completely off, it takes it a minute or two to boot up all the way for you to be able to print. And sometimes for some reason it things that there has been a dvd/cd loaded on the disc tray and it thinks it is going to print on a disc, but within about a minutes it realized it isn't and starts printing on paper like it should. I haven't tired this feature yet, but it is good to know it is an option. I haven't really done photo printing yet because I mainly use the printer for text and just small amount of color printing. I also use it for copying, scanning and as a memory card reader.
The biggest thing I don't like about this printer is its size. This thing is HUGE. This printer is big and it is heavy. The sleek black styling helps take away from the size, but none the less, this printer is much bigger then the last all in one printer I had, however I was willing to look past the size to have a printer the just worked and worked when I needed it to.
