| kyte50's Full Review: Sony Ericsson R320sc Cell Phone |
I hadnt intended to buy an Ericsson. I was looking for a Nokia to replace my 3210, with which I had grown a bit bored.
So what I was looking for was a phone which would let me make exceptionally clear calls and which would be reliable and get good signal strength even in dodgy areas. I thought it might also be nice to have more up to date features as voice dialling and voice answering..essential if you use either personal or car handsfree. WAP seemed like a neat idea too, though I doubt I will ever actually use it. And a builtin modem could be useful as well.
I was not looking for a games machine or a glitzy little showpiece. I wanted a phone!
I found my current ideal in the Ericsson R320s (as it is labelled in Australia). At half the cost of a Nokia with similar features, it was impossible to beat. I had never used an Ericsson before so the menuing system was a little unfamiliar, and completely different from the Nokia family. It didn't matter though, because Ericsson have neat little menu helpers which tell you what to do. Two days later and I have forgotten my Nokia desires.
This phone has unbelievable clarity. I thought I had it all with the 5110 and 3210 but this 320s is amazing. It seemed to me that the person to whom I was speaking might have been in the next room...and this was on a phone which, according to the signal strength bar, was barely within reach of the network. It pulls in the most amazingly clear signal in even weaker areas, due to a patented Ericsson technology, the name of which escapes me just now.
The phone is also future-proof, to a degree. The new bluetooth technology, which will allow us to control all kinds of devices with voice commands, is available to this phone with a small plugin device.
To say I am seriously impressed with the phone is an understatement. It does the job better than most other phones I have had, and if you happen to want to play a little game of tetris on the train...well..you could do that too.
