Ok so I have to admit it, I am the world’s largest Scooby Doo fan ever. Yes I have it all, the Scooby version of Monopoly, the clothes, the playing cards, the stuffed animals and even a dancing Santa Scooby for Christmas. I was thrilled when I had my son because I could now buy Scooby stuff and say it is for him even though he is not allowed to play with any of it (laugh). I thought of doing his entire room in Scooby but then it wouldn’t be his room, it would be mine, so I decided just to get him a Scooby chair to sit in his room. I found this chair at Toy-R-Us and Wayne loves it.
About the Scooby Doo foam chair
The Scooby-Doo foam chair measures about 13”W x 14”H and is the perfect size for your little one. Having a chair that sits this low to the group really helps a little one to feel more grown up. The chair itself is a large piece of foam that is covered with a Scooby Doo slipcover. The cover is made of synthetic fibers and is brown to match Scooby’s fur. The feet, hands, and face and eyes are all embroidered into the fabric. I have seen a couple of these chairs that have plastic eyes but Wayne’s does not. The top of the chair has a pair of Scooby ears that are held up by plastic stiffeners and they can be bent and twisted around as well. On the front bottom of the chair is the word Scooby Doo embroidered in red. The slip fits over top the foam and is held in place by the elastic bottom on the fabric Scooby cover.
What mommy likes about this chair
Well of course the moment I saw a Scooby chair I had to stop and wonder if I could fit in it (I don’t). I purchased it knowing that Wayne would love it and I brought it home and sat it in his room. When he woke from his nap he saw it in his room and ran right over, pushed it up to his train table, sat down and started playing for about 1hour. This chair is the perfect height for him to sit at his train table and also slide comfortably up to the table. Other chairs always had arms in the way and he could not get close enough to the table to play. The Scooby cover pops off easily and can be cleaned by tossing it into the washing machine on the cold cycle. Bye-bye Kool-aide and anything else that gets on it. Because it is brown, a lot of stains and dirt goes hidden and that can be a good thing if you washed it that morning and your little one spills soda on it that afternoon. The two down sides I have found with this chair is that the foam itself is hard to clean. The cover is not that thick so fluids will leak through and get into the foam. If your chair gets really bad you can take it our and spray it down with a water hose and then let it air dry but you should not have a lot of problems because the foam seems to stay pretty clean even with my mess monster. The other down side is that the elastic around the bottom of the cover can become stretched out and no longer hold a snug fit. The chair is really cheap so you can always get another chair or if you can sew or know someone that can, just have them replace the elastic in it. That is what Grandma did with Wayne’s chair and it has held great.
What does Wayne like about this chair
It is in his blood; he was born to be a Scooby Doo fan! I think he gets it from me. Wayne loves his chair; it is the perfect height for him to sit at his train table and play. The arms are low so they don’t get in the way and because the chair is so soft I don’t have to worry about him hitting his head or any other body part on it. He also loves to jump on his chair but only when I am not looking. Scooby chair is also very lightweight and he is able to move it himself with out any help from others and he loves to have independence so this helps him feel like more of a big boy. I can also set this in his room with out taking up a lot of space and that gives Wayne more room for more toys which is exactly what every mom needs right? (laugh)
In Closing
Scooby is making a huge come back especially since the new Scooby Movie is due out June 14th so look for a lot of new Scooby merchandise floating around in stores. If you were in the market for a good chair with out having to spend a lot of money then I would recommend the Scooby chair or any foam chair with a slip on cover. They are lightweight, affordable and easy to clean. What more could you want in a child’s chair.
