| diverpam's Full Review: Embassy Suites Hotel Phoenix-Airport at |
Talk about exceptional customer service! Those folks at the Embassy Suites in Phoenix, AZ, are the greatest! They made me feel like a very special guest, indeed.
Note: This was previously posted in the generic Embassy Suites category. I have deleted the original and am now placing this (slightly revised)review in the specific location where I stayed.
Getting to the Hotel
When I called from the airport to inquire about a courtesy shuttle vs. taxi, I was told to go ahead and take a taxi and they would reimburse me upon arrival. Hello!
Special Treatment
From the moment I arrived at the hotel (several hours before scheduled check-in time) I was treated as if I was the only guest in the hotel.
Not only was I allowed to check-in very early, I was warmly greeted by both the bell man and the front desk clerk. And,yes, I was immediately reimbursed for the taxi fare.
The bell man apologized profusely for not knowing I was at the airport, since he would have gladly come to pick me up. (He was also doubling as the shuttle driver that day.)
Check-in was quick and easy and I was immediately escorted to my suite.
My Suite
There I had plenty of room to spread out and settle in. I had my option of televisions to watch, as well as locations on which to set up my computer.
The room was very clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated in Southwestern style. (No big surprises there.)
Each of the buildings was a different pastel color and it really looked beautiful in the twilight hours looking out over the property.
For a $.95 charge all local and toll-free calls were included. This was great for dialing into my company email, as well as my personal ISP.
Room Service - The First Choice of this Solo Business Traveler
I opted for room service for lunch (I told you I was there early) so I could work and eat. When I placed my order, the lady was very nice and told me it would take about 20 minutes, but she would try to hurry. A nice, friendly voice and positive attitude -- wow, could the food be as good?
I had a very tasty fajita salad with lots of meat and just the right seasoning. The jalapeno dressing was delicious! It arrived quite promptly and the lady who brought it was polite and friendly.
Encounter at the Coke Machine
Later in the day I went down to the soft drink machine (in Memphis we call it the Coke machine, regardless of whether or not it contains Coke or Pepsi products).
As I was inserting my dollar bill into the slot, a hotel employee came running up to me asking if I was a hotel guest. "Yes, of course," I replied, wondering if non-guests were not allowed to use the Coke machines. Was I finally going to encounter an unfriendly employee?
"I just wanted to let you know that we're having happy hour right over here (pointing to the large pool area) and the soft drinks there are all free." How nice. She was trying to save me my hard-earned dollar.
Almost too Good to Believe
At the risk of boring everyone to tears, let me just say that this positive, friendly attitude continued throughout my entire stay. It was true with every single hotel employee I encountered. Amazing. Incredible. But true!
The next morning at the free breakfast buffet, I saw the bell man. He greeted me warmly and called me by name. Well, almost. He called me Mrs. Graham. Not my last name... but very close. I certainly gave him high marks for trying.
I've stayed in lots of different hotels, from semi-fleabag to the Waldorf-Astoria and I have to say this is the friendliest hotel staff I have ever encountered.
Work in Progress
The only less than positive comment I can make about this hotel is that the full-service restaurant was being completely remodeled, so it was closed. However, they had room service available and a limited menu in the bar area.
Overall Recommendation
Whenever I return to Phoenix, this Embassy Suites will definitely be my first choice of hotels. I highly recommend this hotel.
