They're So Good They Should Be Illegal! (Reply to this comment)

Plump, chewy, hot with a sensuous quality that defies categorization. One of the few breads I can thing of that just doesn't need anything on added. Just enjoy the pure ecstasy of the best hot bagel in the city...raw. (If you will.) However, a schmear of cream cheese or other sandwich stuffings "wouldn't hurt." (The highest lower East side compliment.)

Just writing this and thinking of the steaming "everything" bagel, is making my taste buds stand at attention and my mouth water. What? You need more selling? Go, already!

You got me missing these things. I loved bagels and lox. New York memories I will cherish. Too bad there were too many NY memories that I don't care to remember. I used to live an hour and a half from the City for 3 years, and would go there 3 or 4 times a month. NYC bagels are the best in the world. Unfortunately, in CA there arent any shops like this that I have seen. No Freighhoffer cookies either:( Great review looking forward to your next:)
