| kleighb's Full Review: Essentiel Elements Sea Salt Scrubs |
You too can now partake of the Essentiel Elements line, previously available in spas and esthetiques, at www.essentielelements.com
I was first exposed to Essentiel Elements at a spa in San Francisco. The trade show I was at really stressed me out, so I thought I'd go and get a body treatment instead! I left refreshed, relaxed, and armed with a shopping bag full of Essential Elements products, including a very heavy jar of Essentiel Elements Sea Salt Scrubs in the "Fleur de Amour" scent.
"Used in the world's leading spas, sea salt scrub creates the ultimate body glo for perfectly polished skin. Fine sea salt blended with Sunflower Oil, pure botanical extracts and pure essential oils detoxify the body and cleanse the lymphatic system for a healthy glo inside and out!"
25 oz. of Salt Rub comes packaged in a heavy-duty, frosted glass apothecary jar. The product is formulated in the following four scents:
Citrus Dream: "Pure essential oils of Orange, Grapefruit and Tangerine sooth the senses while exfoliating the body. "
Wake-up Rosemary: "Pure essential oils of Rosemary and Mint stimulate and rejuvenate the mind while exfoliating the body."
Joie de Lavender: " Pure essential oil of Lavender relaxes the spirit while exfoliating the body. "
Fleur de Amour: "Pure essential oils of Geranium, Marjoram, Ylang-Ylang and Petitgrain uplift the soul while exfoliating the body."
My Salt Rub was Fleur de Amour. To my particularly fickle nose, this scent was a wishy washy geranium and ylang ylang-ish scent that's not really very romantic. The name of the product in French means "love flower" or "flower of love". This leads me to believe that this would be a seductive scent, or one with aphrodisiac qualities. The scent of the product is quite mundane, however, so I find the name quite misleading. I don't recommend this scent.
Essentiel Elements Salt Rub comes packaged with a sea shell to aid in dispensing the product. A very nice touch. Usually one has to dip their hand into the jar. The shell makes application very easy.
Here is how I suggest one uses a Salt Rub product:
1. Run a hot bath or shower.
2. Bask in the warm water for at least 10 minutes before using this product. This allows your pores to open, and your skin to soften.
3. If you are in the shower, turn the showerhead away. If you are in the tub, stand up.
4. Using your handy seashell, take a generous portion of Salt Rub and massage it into your body, gently rubbing it in a circular motion, and paying special attention to elbows, knees, buttocks, ankles, hands...and other areas where dry skin builds up.
5. Add more product as needed to your body, and continue massaging gently.
6. Rinse. (Sit down in the tub or move the showerhead back into position)
7. Enjoy the rest of your bath or shower, Since shaving will sting after using this product, I recommend that you shave at another time!
Essentiel Elements offers us additional reasons for regular use of this type of product: detoxification: "Your skin is the largest organ in your body responsible for eliminating internal toxins. It is vital to clear dead skin from the epidermis at least once a week to support this important function. In addition, exfoliation leaves your skin healthy, vibrant, and perfectly polished. This simple treatment brings one of the most popular and effective spa treatments home to the comfort and convenience of your own bath. "
Essentiel Elements Sea Salt Scrub leaves my skin very soft, and exfoliates well. This is a great product if you have dry, flaky skin. It really makes an immediate difference in the smoothness and moisture level of your skin after use. I try to use a salt rub product at least once a week.
I like the fact that it saves time- no need to apply an additional moisturizer after your bath or shower.
But, it's really expensive. Just think about it. Some fine sea salt, sunflower oil, and essential oils. Simple ingredients, very high price tag! I have started to make my own salt rubs at pennies per use.
If money is no object to you, and you could care less about bringing the make-it-at-home spirit of Martha Stewart to your bathroom, I recommend this product for you. It works incredibly well, leaving your skin as soft as a baby's little bottom.
You just might want to try a scent other than the Fleur de Amour, which left very little impression on me.
