Pros: great suction, picks up pet hair, excellent performance
Cons: heavy, duster can be annoying
The last time I bought a vacuum, pet hair was not an issue. Now that we have a dog that sheds, it's a must that our vacuum do a good job. We not only looked at several other vacuums, but bought them, used them and returned them to the store. We contemplated getting a Dyson, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money after getting laid-off from my job. After reading reviews on the Eureka capture plus with the pet hair attachment, we decided to make yet a another purchase.
I decided to bring out the big guns. If this vacuum could make an improvement on my ivory 9' x 12' rug with the black dog hair, I'd keep it.
Talk about night to day... my once ivory rug became ivory again, except for some stains here and there. It literally looked like I'd take an eraser and erased the pet hair away. I wish I'd taken pictures because it was unbelievable.
We've had this vacuum now for about 7 months. It performs extremely well. The pet hair attachment is fabulous for the cushions on my sofa. I was amazed at how much stuff ended up in the canister just from doing my sofa.
Now the cons... It's a heavy vacuum. We have 2 rooms in the house that are a step down and we have to pick it up to move from one room to the other. For me, it's a minor issue to deal with compared to the great performance.
Also, the dusting attachment can be annoying when it pops out of it's housing. It doesn't do this on it's own, but it will when you're driving it around furniture. However, it's so nice to know that I can pop it back in there after using it and the dust gets sucked off.
Another point I'd like to make is that it doesn't seem to suck up very well with the brush turned off. I have a lot of tile and was hoping to vacuum it with the brush off to keep things from being thrown around. It seemed the suction turned off when the brush turned off.
Because of these few cons, I'm giving this vacuum a 4-star instead of a 5-star.
One point to be noted, you will need to make sure that you keep your filters cleaned and empty your canister after each room for optimum use.
*side note* This is not a reflection on the performance. I sucked up some string from new carpet and I had to turn off the vacuum immediantly. I tried to detach the brush housing to clean the brush of all the string and had a terrible time getting it back together. The husband took care of my lack of skill in that department. It continued to run great.
