| disartain's Full Review: Eureka Enviro Steamer 370 Upright Vacuum |
I have had this steamer for almost two years. I originally bought if for my parrots cages. You cant use chemicals around the parrots. I needed a way to clean the three huge cages easily. Well it was not as easy as I thought, it took a lot of work, not because the steamer did not work but the cages are complicated with all the bars and poop can get into all the nooks and crannies.
I sold the birds eventually because of allergies caused from powder down, but I kept the steamer.
Description
It came in the box already assembled. All that was required of us was to read the instructions, fill the water, put the tool we wanted to use on the hose and plug it in. Simple, I could not even mess it up. The instruction booklet is very detailed and shows what each attachment is and what it does, if you read it.
The steamer body is a bright yellow, about 13" in length and about 9" across at its widest. It weighs 8 ½ lbs with no attachments hooked to it. It is made of high impact polypropylene and is very durable.
The body has a black handle that makes it easy to pick up the steamer and serves as a holder for the spray nozzle and hose that is always connected. All the other attachments fit to the spray nozzle connector at the end of the spray nozzle. The on and off switch is in the front of the steamer and is pushed in or out to turn on or off.
The body of the steamer has two lights, they both come on when the water is added and the steamer is plugged into the socket. The green light indicates the power is on. The amber light goes off when the steamer is ready for use. Two yellow plastic wheels on the back of the steamer work well when pulling or pushing the steamer. The steam cap is on the back of the unit. It screws off for you to measure the water in and then screws on when you are ready to plug the steamer in. There is a wing over each side of the unit and the hose extends around this and tucks in to store.
The power cord is 25 long and the cleaning path of the floor brush is 12"
Attachments
Accessory Connector
Extensions Wands {two}
Floor tool
Angle nozzle
upholstery brush
Straight nozzle
One plastic round brush
One brass round brush
Two cloths, one for the floor brush and one for the upholstery brush
Window squeegee
Measuring cup and funnel: The cup holds about a cup and a half of water max. The funnel fits into the water hole and then the water is poured into the funnel.
Advantages
Comes with a long black nylon bag that holds all the attachments and closes with Velcro, the bag is about 24" in length.
The steamer can clean floors.
It is great on grout in the kitchen or bath.
Cleans and sterilizes cages or other pet enclosures.
Cleans all the grease from around stoves and appliances.
Just about, anything that is sealed and immune to heat can be cleaned with the Eureka Enviro Steamer Steam Cleaner 370. The uses for this machine are only hindered by your imagination or the materials in your house.
This unit also does mirrors and windows. The squeegee is great for the shower or windows. {Caution dont use on cold mirrors or glass they might shatter.}
One thing I like about the steamer, it can kill dust mites. When used on your mattress with the upholstery attachment and cloth. You can kill salmonella and E-coli and some other types of bacteria if used like directed. I use this on my sink and toilet when I have the Eureka out. The steam gets to about 170 degrees and if you hold the steam about 1" away from the surface and move it all around to cover all areas it is supposed to kill some bacteria without chemicals.
Disadvantages
It is bulky to store and I dont use it as often as I could if I had room to keep it handy.
It takes the unit about 10 minutes to get to the correct temperature for steam.
You have to turn the unit upside-down to empty the water when you are finished.
All the attachments are kept in a bag separate from the unit.
My Experience
I really enjoy using the Eureka Enviro Steamer Steam Cleaner 370. It has many uses, I have used it to steam a dress with no problem. I use it mainly in my kitchen and bathroom areas since I dont have the birdcages anymore. The stove comes clean with very little effort.
When I use it on the tile in the shower, I use some type of cleaner and then steam all the grout lines to get rid of the mold and leave the tile sparkling.
I take all my burners out of the stove and then use the steamer to clean under and around the edges of the stove. This immediately cleans up all the old grease and lets me see where I need to use a cleaner.
I cleaned the floors a couple of times with the floor wand but it was a lot of back breaking work for me, I have back problems anyway, and it seemed to take forever to use the steamer. One trick I did learn is that I could use a terrycloth washrag or tear a towel in pieces to use instead of the cleaning cloths. This always gave me extras to use while washing the others cloths. Old diapers work really well for this chore. The cloths are attached like a Swiffer pad on the Swiffer cleaner. They tuck up into three little rubber stoppers on the top of the floor and upholstery piece.
When I use the steamer, I dont bother with anything but the brushes the angle and straight nozzles. I have used all the attachments but the ones I mentioned above are my favorites.
Always keep the steamer hose higher then the unit when using for the first time or when you have taken a break, then just push the steamer button while holding upright and this gets rid of all the water that has accumulated in the hose. You want steam not water.
The pressure on the steamer is okay but could be stronger; it seems to me that this would make the job easier.
If I had read the directions when I first got the steamer, I would have saved my self some problems. I had been using it to clean the birdcage and my arm and hand was giving out from keeping the trigger down with constant pressure. I complained to my husband and he came over laughing and said, "Why dont you do this?" As he said this, he pushed a button on the top of the steamer hose and the steam kept coming without me holding the trigger. {Couldnt you just choke your husband sometimes?}
Cautions
Always fill water before plugging into electrical socket.
The tips of the attachments get hot.
Never point the steamer at anyone.
Never let children around when you are using the steamer, turn your back one minute and the rug rats will have burned you or themselves.
