When we got our new van this past year, my monthly car wash job turned into my weekly car wash job. See, most people are really good at addition. They would immediately, without even thinking, know that tan colored carpets + 3 little boys = a BIG No! No! But nope, not me, I need to go back to school. "It looks so bright, fresh and clean! This is the color I want in my new van!" I said as my husband sat there looking at me with a raised brow. Oh brother! I don't know how many times that I need to be hit with a ball-peen hammer to get a clue as far as "realistic choices" when you have a house full of boys. Hopefully I can eventually catch on to the fact that dark and dingy is a way of life until the last of my boys have moved out. Live and learn, right?
My silly little Hoover Hand Vac barely had enough life left in it to even suck up dust from floor, let alone have enough power to pick up the dirt and "other" icky stuff that continued to get embedded into the vans carpet. Man, I now feel so grateful for all those years prior to have had dark gray carpet in my cars. That saying, "what you don't know won't hurt you..." applies big time in this area! The dark carpet may not have been that pretty, but it sure made our family look a hundred times cleaner!
Most Powerful Hand Vac available is what I typed into my search engine when I first became familiar with The EURO- PRO products, which in turn led me to the Shark Cordless Deluxe.
Powerful?
Chiming in at 14.4 Volts, the Shark Cordless Deluxe has been the most powerful cordless Hand Vac that I have used to date. I have used many Hand Held Vac's through the years and have learned to accept that there is only so much that you are going to get out of a Hand Held. However, I was totally taken off guard with the Shark Deluxe. It has a very powerful suction and works extremely well.
After my Shark had fully charged (It takes about a day for the initial charge. They recommend 16-20 hours), I put it to the test. Forget seeing how well it will pick up dust, dirt or cereal on the kitchen floor, lets see what this baby can really do! I decided to put it to test on the one job that every other Hand Vac had failed on..... the carpet in my van.
Not only did it work, but it did a better job than my full size vacuum. (Yes, I had been dragging my big bulky Hoover out to the van each week to help keep my van presentable... talk about a pain!) My Shark picked up everything. From loose dirt, hair and paper to the more ground in stuff like fuzz balls and lint. This Vac is amazing! This Shark has become my new best friend. I use it on everything.
Full Size Vacuum Power in the Cordless Hand Held
I purchased the Euro-Pro Shark Cordless Deluxe, because it came with lots of extra's. Although it is a cordless Hand Vac, it still has the ability to transform into something bigger.
The Shark comes with the main unit, the recharging stand/adapter, 3 Extension tubes, a floor brush, a convertible brush, and a crevice tool. All fit nicely and have their own place on the base. The base can either sit on a flat surface or you can hang it on the wall. There is a little bit more to this set than some of the other cordless Vac sets so you will need to find a place that has more room if you choose to hang it on the wall. I haven't hung mine yet I just have it sitting flat on the work bench outside in the garage. But it is nice to have that option.
You can either use your Shark by popping in one of the cleaning tools directly into the unit or you can place all 3 extension tubes with a cleaning tool at the end and have a full size cordless vacuum! This is awesome for using on your kitchen, laundry or bathroom floor. Getting down on your hands and knees to use a Hand Held is a thing of the past with the Shark. You can do all your Cordless cleaning in a standing position. I don't think there is anything else available on the market that allows you to be able to do that.
I just can't say enough good things about the Shark. It is so convenient and works so well, that during the day I don't even bother to put it away on the base, I just keep it laying around and use it for everything. I am not lying above when I say it has become my new best friend.
The instructions say that the Shark will stay charged for approximately 20 minutes of "continuous" use. However, I have never had the battery run low during any job that I have used it for. After I vacuum my car (which tends to be the longest job) I have always immediately put it back on the charger to be recharged. But for the "around the house," everyday jobs, I keep my shark with me (off the charger) all day. I have never had a problem. At the end of the day I always put it away back on the charger to be fully charged for the next day.
Forget those messy vacuum bags
The top portion of your Shark is what they call the dust cup. This is area that will collect all the dirt and that you will empty out from time to time. The Dust cup filter sits snug inside. Cleaning is very simple. Just dump the dirt out from the cup and the filter and then rinse with cold water. However, make sure the filter is totally dry before putting it back together. I usually wash mine and let the whole thing dry on the counter before reassembling. This only take a few hours. Also, they suggest changing out the filter every 3 months to get the best possible performance. In your users manual they give you the phone number and address to where you can order replacement filters or battery packs.
Anything that I do not like?
No, I absolutely love it. This vacuum is going to get a perfect 5 star rating from me. I have never used a Hand Held vacuum this powerful before. This is the best cordless vacuum that I have found on the market today.
There is only one thing that I would like to share and it more of a caution than a dislike. My 7 year old sons job each week is to vacuum the carpeted stairs in our house. For the longest time he had been using my little Red Devil corded vacuum. The first time he tried to use the Shark Cordless Deluxe, it flew out of his hand and smashed his toe. It is quite a bit more powerful than the Hand Vac he was used to using and the initial power of starting up the Shark took him off guard. So, after the trauma wore off of the smashed toe (Yes, the world stopped turning for about 5 minutes) my son managed to "limp" back to his job and give it the good ol' college try again. This time, more prepared for what to expect, it went well. He even noticed a major difference in how easy it was to vacuum the stairs compared to the Vac he had been using before. This benefited us all. I no longer have to listen to a 20 minute production each week about "how hard" his job is and how "mistreated" he is to have to do this job. Without the cord and with how well it suck up the dirt, what used to take him around 10 minutes to do, now takes only half the time.
Overall
The Shark Cordless Deluxe is the best and most powerful Hand Held Cordless Vac I have ever used. The Shark has made all my jobs (from the simple ones to the more tedious and difficult ones) so easy.
If you are looking to get a Hand Held Vac then I would highly recommend this one. It may cost a bit more than some of the other choices that you will find available, but I guarantee that those cheaper ones will not work half as well as this one does. As a matter of fact (if you are like me) you will end up spending this much and MORE, by going from cheap hand held to cheap hand held in a search to find one that actually has enough power to perform to the level that you need it to perform to.
