Pros: Excellent suction.Great for pet hair.Good value.
Cons: Small bin means more frequent emptying.
We have a large Australian Shepherd/Burmese Mountain dog. Bear doesn't shed - he basically gives off enough hair to construct a second dog each week. In the four years since we rescued him, we've gone through vacuum after vacuum, and none of them, no matter how expensive, could stand up to the demand we made of it.
We finally settled for using a shop vac to vacuum our house (and what a giant pain in the neck that was - try it) to combat the constant layer of fur and junk on the floor.
Then we found Shark products, and I convinced my husband to buy a Shark Navigator. It's unbelievable. The vacuum has great suction and is easy to use and take apart. The suction is unbelievable - particularly for pet hair, which has been our downfall with so many vacuums. In my opinion, it's the best bagless vacuum on the market.
The bin is small, so if you have a lot of volume, you end up emptying it frequently. It's easy to do, however, so I didn't find that a huge drawback.
The Navigator works equally well on hard floors and carpets. It comes with a "super stretch" hose, a turbo power brush, two crevice tools and a dusting brush. It also comes with lifetime filters.
The price on the Navigator hovered around $170 in my area for quite some time, but I've been able to find it as low as $120 online and in stores recently. It's a great value.
I've had some questions about the "lifetime" filters - sorry, I should have explained more about those in my initial review. My Shark came with three of the "lifetime filters." According to the instructions, the filters remove all - even microscopic - particles. I believe this is correct because it seems our allergies have been better. We live in the country and, in addition to our hairy dog, we have a lot of dust.
In the nine months I've had the vacuum, I've taken out the filters and rinsed them with water every few months. They seem very strong and durable; however, I called Shark, and one of their customer service representatives said they replace the filters if there is a problem.
