A brief stay at this hotel left reminders of airplanes, stiff towels, hard beds, moldy hallways, yet one of hospitality which you can appreciate during rough times or vacations.
We stayed here only for a few nights as the rate was decent and it was far enough away from where we needed to be. When I went in and asked for a double room, the desk attendant was very polite and charming, engaging in conversation while we waited for the computer to get us signed in as I hadn't made prior reservations. Once he got us checked in and let us know the directions to our room, he was polite in telling us to have a nice stay as well as letting us know if there was anything we needed, then to either come to the desk or call from the in-room phone.
Our room was deep into the building, but right around the corner which resulted in smelling the chlorine every time you'd leave the room and probably caused the moldy smell throughout the hallways. As we walked to our room, I noticed the lightening which wasn't extremely bright nor dark, and being that I had a headache upon check-in, that was a relief for sure.
Once inside the room, we found the two double beds, which were nicely made up, and welcoming with the two pillows which appeared to be comfortable. The bed, however, was stiff and not so comfortable just as the pillows went flat as soon as you laid your head upon them. Otherwise, the room was clean and didn't smell like the hallways, so we dealt with the beds for a few nights.
The room had a 27" tv set inside an cabinet and gave access to cable channels, as well as HBO. If you have a laptop, there's in-room WiFi access for you and it actually works without any problems logging in or having issues with disconnections. Aside from entertainment, you will also find your necessities such as a hair dryer, iron, and a small coffee maker with two packages of coffee and a few packs of sugar. (My advice, if you plan on drinking in room coffee, take your own coffee and whatever it is you drink in it.)
Moving on, this hotel offers a light, continental breakfast in the morning which has cereals, bagels, muffins, and juices as well as milk. There's also coffee makers in the lobby for regular access to coffee.
The negatives of this hotel include the fact that it's an older hotel and doesn't include all the brightness you'll find in the newer ones. There are only a few ice makers and our personal experience proved it to be a long walk from our room. It is located beside the airport and depending on when you stay, you may be interrupted by the sound of planes. We didn't hear the large commercial planes, but the smaller ones could be heard firing up in the mornings. It's located almost right outside of Evansville, so you'll have to drive through Highway 41's heavy traffic to get into town in order to get to your location, sometimes this means waiting for the train to pass by.
