GREAT for the Medela breast pump

Pros: Easy to sterilize. Easy to clean. Cheap. Plain and simple.
Cons: None, really - unless you are seriously paranoid.
The Bottom Line: Yes, I recommend. Parents and Grandparents probably would too....

OK, first things first. These bottles ARE glass. Yes, glass breaks - but in all the history of bottle-feeding, few to no infants ever actually DIED from cutting themselves on a broken or chipped glass bottles. Life is dangerous - welcome to the real world. There are bigger things to worry about.
Second. These bottles, along with Playtex VentAire, Evenflo Comfi - are compatible with the Medela breast pumps. Don't bother spending $4 a bottle on the Medela bottles - these are cheaper, easier to sterilize.
The great things about these glass nursers are that they are insanely easy to wash (no scrubbing like with plastic - even with greasy formula like Neocate or Alimentum!) and they survive any kind of sterilization (micro, electric, whatever) without melting. I love evenflo Comfi bottles - but they are shelved until my daughter no longer needs her bottles and breast pump sterilized (she was preemie).
Once your child is old enough to want to hold the bottle themselves, you can do one of two things.
1) Switch to plastic (Comfi is great!)
2) Supervise (you should supervise all feedings anyway, and a child CAN be trained not to toss bottles and plates. Ask your mom, she'll tell you how a firm tone and an occasional tap on a toddlers hand can discourage bad behaviour....no I am not advocating beating your child - you know the difference...or you should.)
These nursers come in 8 and 4 oz. Buy the 4 oz. Save the 8 oz for when they are bigger and you have decided whether to do 1) or 2) above. Plus they are cheap. About $2 apiece.
Stash these bottles away for the next baby - mine are 30 years old and still going strong......they last FOREVER.
