I have read several articles stating that clear plastic bottles leak chemicals into the milk when heated that's why I chose glass bottles. I called manufacturers of plastic bottles and they said that the polycarbonate bottles are safe but since I am a first time mom and still am very cautious, I opted for the safest choice - glass bottles. There's really no choice of glass bottles - only Evenflo manufactures them. I am very happy with these glass bottles. They are easier to clean, heavy duty and sturdy (I dropped them on my kitchen floor and they did not break; they don't get chipped in the dishwasher) and I like the fact that they don't float when you heat the bottle in a container of hot water. I also found out that they heat the milk faster than plastic bottles (I bought a couple of plastic bottles too just for comparison) and that really helps with a crying, screaming infant.
My baby still cannot hold his own bottle but I can see this as a possible issue down the road. Glass bottles are heavier than plastic bottles, maybe not by much for an adult but how about for my son's tiny hands? I would also be concerned of breakage when my son finally holds the bottle because sturdy or not, glass is still glass.
Overall, I would still use glass bottles specially the early months. I love this bottle.
