Pros: Improved ease of use over previous models makes this a great front carrier.
Cons: Needs an extra burp cloth.
This front carrier is a great improvement over previous models by Snugli. They have completely rethought the fastening system and I think they've got it right this time. You slip the carrier straps over your head, open the whole thing up, place baby in it and then fasten the carrier closed around her with two sets of clips. All the straps are fully adjustable, even while you're wearing the carrier with baby in it. There's an additional snap adjustment around baby's waist too.
This carrier holds my baby securely and did NOT give me a backache, unlike other carriers I've tried. (The straps cross behind your back, between your shoulders, which I think is a great design.) When our newborn is a little older and can hold her head up on her own we'll be able to wear her facing forward in this carrier (by repositioning the head support according to the directions), which I'm sure she'll enjoy as well.
This good-looking navy blue and plaid carrier is something both mom and dad will feel comfortable wearing out in public - not cutesy at all. The whole thing is washable, and comes with a white cotton burp cloth that snaps in and out. I wish there were 2 of these so one could be in the wash while the other is in use.
Our one-month old baby usually likes being worn around the house in this carrier, and often falls asleep in it within just a few minutes. (As a matter of fact, she's sleeping in it while I type this!) It's a wonderful thing to know your baby is safe with you AND to be able to sweep the floor or fold the laundry or water the garden.
Because we haven't been using this for very long I can't give first-hand info about durability. I can say that the construction seems very rugged and I expect it will last long after our baby has outgrown it.
And you can't beat the price - I found mine for $20 at KMart.
