Yes, until it broke we loved the Triumph. The Roundabout is a small seat so if you are looking to purchase this seat for an average sized child, don't expect 4 full years out of it. If you are planning on passing it down to other children then it may not make a difference.

***On Soapbox***

Personally I wouldn't base your decision only on what Consumer Reports has said. There are a lot of problems with their testing and reporting. What exactly does a 5 rating seat have that a 4 doesn't? No one really knows. The "safest" car seat is the one that fits your car, fits your budget and that every adult who buckles your child can use correctly every single time. A $40 seat that is properly installed and your child is strapped securely into is safer than a $300 seat where you can't get the harness snug against your child.

*** Off soapbox ***

Good luck with your decision. I am quite glad that most of my car seat buying years are behind us now. I think what we have will hopefully last us another 4 years until all of the kids are in boosters!

consumer reports high rating (Reply to this comment)

This seat is rated as high as the Britax Roundabout by consumer reports - both received an 81 (highest given to any convertible seat). But this seat received a rating of 5 for three separate safety factors where the Roundabout received ratings of 4. This seat received 4's however in a few "ease of use" categories where the Roundabout received 5's. I would rather have the safety!

I'm sorry to hear this seat didn't last long for you. I, too, have had trouble with customer service from Evenflo which is the only reason I'm debating about going with this.

Until this broke on you though, you liked it very much, right?

Bad seat (Reply to this comment)

The girl I watch for daycare had this seat. She had COMPLETELY outgrown this seat at 22months. She weighed to much to be rear facing, and was too tall to be forward facing.

I will never buy another Evenflo product. They have just dropped the ball too many times.

I was given a new Evenflo Travel system a little over 5 years ago and experienced a problem with the brake mechanism on the stroller and something with the infant carrier. They were extremely fast, friendly and helpful. Within a few days I received a new system because the problem was known.

Due to a car accident I'm replacing all of our car seats at this time. I have a Grace Turbo booster which I love (got the extra cushy one this time around), a Britax Roundabout which I like but it seems short in the back compared to the Graco I just had to retire unexpectantly. I WAS going to get the Evenflo Triumph 5 as my third and final replacement, but now I'm back to square one. I'm not interested in seats that don't last as we're probably not finished having children. Consumer Reports Epinions leaves me with very few choices. I got Britax on sale and even though someone else is paying this time, don't feel right getting one at regular price since I didn't have one before unless I simply cannot find an acceptable alternative (since I rely heavily on reviews before making purchases).

It's good to hear about people having good luck with Evenflo. I called about 2 weeks ago with a question on this car seat and I got the same run around that I have in the past.

Evenflo Customer Service (Reply to this comment)

Though it has obviously been a while since you've written your review, I just thought I would share my extremely positive experience I had with Evenflo Customer Service recently. I bought an Ellipsa Travel System, and had a problem with the handle on the Embrace Car seat part of the system. I called Evenflo and they sent me an entire new car seat and base within a week of the call at no charge. The rep was very friendly and I was impressed with the efficiency at which they responded to my complaint. I was so impressed, in fact, that I swore that when I need to purchase a non-infant car seat, I would purchase an Evenflo product because of the excellent service I received. Perhaps there is new management in the call center (or I just lucked upon an awesome rep!)

There is no doubt that Britax makes good (if expensive) car seats. I think what really put me off was going to Babies R Us and having the sales person tell me out-and-out lies to try and get me to purchase a Britax over the Evenflo I knew I wanted.

I have to admit however, that I save my nickels and dimes for the Britax seats. :) Mostly because they are easy to install, and even easier to adjust once your child is in them. I had other seats for my first, and got rid of them after using them for a while. We had one seat that wouldn't fit in our '93 Saturn and so far we have yet to find one we can't get our Roundabout in.
