| treasures2's Full Review: Excalibur Dehydrator |
When I decided I wanted to get a dehydrator, I did all the research I could and it kept leading back to the Excalibur. I'm so glad I spent the extra money to get the best! I've been extremely happy with this product.
pros
The drying unit is in the back of the unit, so it dries evenly without having to rotate trays. It does a fabulous job on everything. This also means that if a piece of food drips, it’s falling onto a smooth bottom (easy to wipe up) instead of the motor, like with other units.
The trays are square, so there is no hole in the middle to try and work around. It’s a lot easier make a square fruit roll-up than making one that looks like a doughnut! It’s also easier to line the square try with plastic wrap than it is with the round models.
Large capacity drying. The units come with 4 – 9 trays depending on which model you purchase.
Being able to dry "on-sale" veggies like mushrooms for future use is definitely a money saver. When it comes time to harvest our garden, I use it non-stop.
The trays are removable. So if there were something big you want to put in, you’d just take out a tray in-between for extra space. This allows you to make things like a tub of cottage cheese or even dry a complete bouquet!
A completely adjustable thermostat (85 –145 degrees) that puts you in control of how high the temperature should be
cons
The unit does make noise when in use, but it's not so loud as to be annoying.
Due to the large capacity, the unit is not tiny, and therefore is not the easiest to store between uses.
