susieq112's Full Review: Explorer Wagon, By Little Tikes
The Little Tikes Explorer Wagon is something we have had for awhile. My mother found the wagon at a yard sale and it has been used outside for awhile now and made the move with us to Nashville. One thing we hadn't thought about while planning to move was the grotesque amount of room Little Tikes toys take up. The result was the fact that they had to be broken down and brought down after the initial move. So we rented a U Haul, one that was too small, then had to figure out how to my sons bulky stuff down in the bed of a truck...
The Explorer Wagon was not the thorn in our side however. The fact that this wagon is made to break down into smaller pieces makes it a bit easier to move from place to place. In the end, this makes it a bit more functional and easier to use away from the home also. The wagon is made so when assembled the sides, front, and back around the wagon are sturdy and safe, but they can also be snapped out of place to provide a flat bed or a smaller unit to pack in the vehicle.
Basically, this makes the wagon a bit more versatile, not only for the children of the house, but also for the family. If you need to move something from one place to the other in the yard, you may be able to use your child's wagon. Flower for planting, pieces of wood. If your wanting to move something larger, ie a board, fencing, all you have to do is secure the item to the flatbed of the wagon and off you go. The bed is around 3 feet long by 20 inches wide, so the options are limited, but there are plenty of possibilities.
The wagon features nicely sized wheels, that are not sit extremely close to the wagons body. The front wheels are connected to the handle, so if you pull the handle to the right, the front wheels turn the right as well, making the wagon easier to steer and reducing the amount of force required by the "puller". The wagon is hefty, weighing probably around 25 or so pounds, but my son began pulling it around on his own around 2 years of age. He mustered all his strength, but was able to take the wagon where he wanted it. The handle is generously long and has a decent sized handle comfortable for both my hand and my son's fathers hand. The handle is also prominent and sturdy, so there is no question about the quality of this product.
The wagon is made out of the "standard" Little Tikes plastic, which means its durable, but not resistant to sun damage. Ours seems to have fared pretty well, but we haven't left it out in the sun continuously. We do have a spot that is cracked in one of the pieces of plastic, but this was found shortly after Grandpa used the wagon to help load pieces for our shed, so I have to assume he was pretty rough with it.
Overall, the Little Tikes Explorer Wagon has been a great addition to our yard, not only for my son, but also for my personal use. The wagon is sturdy enough to move stuff around the yard for small construction projects and tote my tot around also.
