Chriss1977's Full Review: CIBA Vision Focus Night & Day Box
My husband had laser surgery a month ago. After a 10 minute procedure, this lucky guy was walking around with 20-20 vision and loving it.
I was always the kid that needed to sit in the front of the room just to see the board. I hated wearing glasses and hid them every chance I could. (Like squinting was an attractive alternative??)
I had already been through every kind of contact lens ever invented. Hard, soft, gas permeable . . I tried them all, but a little problem of dry eyes stopped me from being completely comfortable or wearing them for extended periods of time.
I rushed to find out if I could have laser surgery. Unfortunately I found out I am one of those rare people who has the wrong eyes for it.
I was convinced I was doomed to red, itchy eyes or glasses for the rest of my life.
Then my optometrist suggested I try Focus Night & Day. He gave me a free pair right there in his office. They were great! Not only did I have clear vision right away, the soft lenses gave me a perfect fit. My doctor told me that they allow six times more oxygen to the cornea - exactly what a "dry eyes" person like me needs.
I found out that Night and Day soft lenses are the first lenses approved by the FDA for extended wear for up to 30 nights continuous wear. After 30 days you can just throw them away and start wearing a fresh new pair.
Unfortunately because I have such dry eyes, my doctor doesn't think I should try using Night and Day lenses continuously. This is fine with me, since what am I going to be looking at while I sleep? the inside of my eyelids? I remove them every night and just pop them in again in the morning.
Taking care of Night and Day lenses is simple. Just remove the lens just as you would any soft contact. Then carefully place each one in an enzymatic basket (users of enzymatic cleaners will know what I'm talking about)fill the vial with the cleaner your doctor recommends, slip the basket in and that's it. You're finished! This is a big difference from some of the elaborate cleaning and disinfecting methods I had to use in the past.
My doctor charged me $150 for a 6 month (12 lens) supply, but I did a little searching on the web and found prices as low as $125. All you need to know is your prescription and you're set.
An extra note - if I want to take a nap during the day or I'm out camping, I do have the option of wearing the lens longer than 12 hours. To rehydrate the lens, all I have to do is pour a little sterile saline solution in the palm of my hand and allow the lens to sit in the solution for about 30 seconds. Voila! fresh feeling lens all over again!
Focus Night and Day contact lens are an excellent alternative for people who can't have laser vision correction. Night and Day offers almost the same freedom from the daily hassle of contact lens wear without the cost or risks of eye surgery.
