Pros: It has everything you need in a particle ball
Cons: Engraving falls out....big deal
The Bottom Line: Here's the final point.....I'm writing this two and one half years later and this ball still works because of good maintenance and knowing when to use the 3 D.

4 D...A particle ball that out hooks or at worst, has as much hook as any particle ball on the market right now.
Advantages are 1)More durable shell without being pearlized. 2)Very even rolling core and is offset 3) It's a tall core so it rolls very heavy with little effort. 4) Great control and very predictable in medium to heavy oil. 5) The cover stock can be shined or sanded.
Disadvantages are 1) It can't be the only ball you use, no particle ball can. 2) The cover stock does tend to chip and scratch, all particle balls do 3)The 4 D will hook too much given the opportunity.
Drilling is as important as lane conditions and a bowler's style. This ball drills very easily. Simple lay outs for any style of bowler. Ok this ball will hook 15 to 20 boards for those of us who want it to and if you want to play at the pocket or down and in, just drill the ball that way. Then find the lane condition to use it. Most of the 4 D's I've seen have pins with in 2 1/2 inches of the center of gravity. This allows a great deal of latitude in drilling technique.
Over all this is ball out performs Brunswick, Track, Columbia, Ebonite, you pick a manufacturer. The particle ball race is well under way and from a bowlers stand point I'm pleased. Todays particle balls are so aggressive good bowlers stand out. Resin gave us more equality. If you want to be high tech you need high tech and then you still have to make the shot. I know I can with this ball and I know when to put this ball away.
I'm going to drill another 4 D with a different lay out just to see if I can keep up with the constant change in lane conditions.
Epinions is showing $140 for cost, I think you'll find that's about $25.00 above wholesale and you can expect to see retail $180 to $200.
