| Mud's Full Review: Faball Hammer 4D HPT Bowling Ball |
This ball is *#!$%@ing AWESOME!!!!
Seriously. When i bought this ball, i was thinking to myself, 'ok, maybe it'll hook a little more then the la nina....maybe it'll turn harder then the syntactive sledge...maybe it'll hit harder than anything i've ever seen...maybe this is the ball of the millenium.' (sorry i had to use that word) And the amazing thing is.....everything i thought this ball MIGHT be, IS. This ball is truely amazing.
Theres not a whole lot of similar balls right now, i'd say the two closest are the La Nina and the Syntactive Sledge. (these are the only two that i can compare it to)
With the factory finish, the 4D-HPT outhooks the La Nina by about 6 boards, on the same lane...same person throwing it, same marks, and same style specific drilling pattern. The Syntactive Sledge stayed right with the la nina, except with more of a turn then an arc.
After doing all the comparisons for the 4D, i decided to see how it'll shine. I got it up to about 1100 grit - it doesn't shine the greatest.
but it tamed it down considerably. I still couldn't play a down and in shot with it, but it allowed me to pick up the 10 pin spares once again.
Even with the polish, this ball will outhook anything out there.
As far as forgiveness and consistency goes. This is the best ball Hammers ever put out. Its farely forgiving, considering its HUGE hook potential. And its more consistent than any of the hammers i've ever thrown, and i've thrown ALOT. This ball is meant for oil, and lots of it, but on a broken down shot with medium/light oil - its fun to just throw it way out there and watch it come smoking back to the pocket.
I've found the coverstock to be durable and long lasting. After about 30 games with it, i have only one little chip/scratch. Damn gutter.
And it hasn't gotten tracked or tamed from oil yet.
As of now, this ball is the best thing that ever been in my hands (as far as bowling balls go hehehehe)
This ball is truely amazing. I urge you to try it out, especially if the La Nina or the Syntactive Sledge works well for you.
