Pros:Great cutting power, Mobile, Stable
Cons:No dust collection bag..make your own
The Bottom Line: A super saw to have and a must have for the garage woodworker. Good price too.
The Ryobi 9” Band Saw is an amazing saw to have. I always wanted a band saw and recently purchased this one. I truly love it. If you do small projects or create crafts for fun or for profit, this is a great band saw to use. The utility light has its own plug in cord, so expect to use two outlets on the power strip.
Size: Older, less mobile band saws took up a large chunk of space. If you are a garage DIY’er, you do not have that much space to play with. The saw takes up a space that is about 2 feet wide and about one foot deep and it is about 3 feet tall.
Weight: Since the band saw is mobile, it is relatively light in weight but not so light that it feels cheap or unstable. The majority of the weight is in the motor, which is on the lower back left side of that case.
Vibration: If you have ever used a band saw that was out of balance, the vibration can be terrible. This little baby is smooth. It will not shack the rest of your tools off the table.
Dusk: The dust exhaust port is on the lower left side of the case. The saw does not come with a dust collection bag so you need to make one. I just loosely taped a small plastic grocery bag to the port. If you do not use one expect to throw dust everywhere to the left.
Safety: The on/off switch comes with a removable safety key, which is important around others (children) in the garage. It is best just to unplug it when not in use.
Overall: Super saw to have and a must have for the garage woodworker.
