Fair Haven
JoAnn Ross
Pocket, Sept.20000
After six years of providing medical services in some of the world’s hellholes, Dr. Erin O’Halloran happily settles into a serene life in Coldwater Cove near Seattle. However, when she finds out that her mentor Tom Flannery lies dying in Western Ireland, Erin stops what she is doing to immediately fly across North America and the Atlantic Ocean to save her friend’s life.
Photojournalist Michael Joyce has seen the world and concludes that it is a terrible place where genocide and abominations are the golden rules. He has come home to Ireland to hide from his own nightmares. Michael believes that the world is so hideous, that he swears never to sire a child. He does not want innocents exposed to this terrible, hate-filled creature, mankind.
When Erin meets Michael, the instant attraction lights up all of Ireland with a special magic. However, neither Erin nor Michael desires a permanent relationship because they each realize how weak love is in a world filled with hatred. Still, love enhanced by Eire’s magic is ready to battle the demons that scar these two wounded but wonderful warriors.
Fair Haven, is a tribute to the writing ability of JoAnn Ross who provides her fans with a fabulous tale of two thrashed souls struggling with the light of love on their darkened minds. Though the plot is fast-paced and entertaining, Michael and Erin own the story line as their need for one another wars with their memories of hell on earth. As usual with a Ms. Ross tale, readers’ care what happens to the lead protagonists. Ms. Ross has become one of the sub-genre’s leading talents.
