Cons: Carcass weight, limited availability of certain sizes.
The Bottom Line: Listing a $44 price tag for the Azenis' 195/60HR-14 size, Falken has once again provided it's public with an excellent street and competent track tire with value in mind.

I purchased a slightly used set of the new Falken Azenis tire from a fellow autocrosser who had been using them as a street and race tire on his D Stock CRX Si. The 195/60HR-14 size fits perfectly on the factory Honda/Acura 14x5" rim, and because of it's excellent sidewall stiffness, can be raced and driven at lower tire pressures while increasing overall suspension spring rate--a very important feature in SCCA Stock classes.
The tire itself tends to be somewhat heavier than other performance-oriented tires, such as the Dunlop Sport 8000 and Yokohama AVS Intermediate in the same size. This fact is quickly forgotten, however, when the Azenis' inherant stickiness and lack of audible complaint when pushed hard shines through on the track (helpful also on those trips down the freeway on-ramp at spirited speeds!). Breakaway characteristics are relatively progressive and generally provide excellent recovery for moments of on-track aggression. Currently, the Azenis in larger sizes is extremely popular within the SCCA Street Touring class, where ultimate grip on street radials is core to success.
After half of a busy autocross season on varied track surfaces and daily-driver duties, the tires are still going strong with plenty of life left. For the listed $44 price tag for the Azenis' smallest 195/60HR-14 size, Falken has once again provided it's public with an excellent street and competent track tire with value in mind.
