Cons: nothing, (new) a bit too vulnerable to flats
The Bottom Line: great tire. Extreme traction no need for 4WD, you get stuff u'd expect in Goodyear and Michellin tires for alot less money

| nyc_kid93's Full Review: Falken Ziex ZE-512 Performance Tire |
I have a Suzuki XL-7 (my parents) and for a 12 year old kid I dont usually think about tires but I've made an exception. The XL-7 my parents own has 4WD but since our Bridgestone dueler h/t D687 went bald we chose this tire. This seems like such a great tire. it sticks to the road like glue when the road is wet and when it snows. But more over it feels like the car is built into tracks in the ground when the asphalt is dry. These feel more like tires that you would end up paying $140 for but I bought it from sears for only $76! I noticed that the tires had deep aqua chutes and 2 vertical strips. Just by looking at the aqua chutes and the strips I can tell that this had good wet traction and very good cornering. But I have to tell you I was wrong . . . . . . it was actually PERFECT!. In the winter (which we just had snow, this was our first time in snow with these tires and it snowed heavily ) the tire is secure, for New York when you live in a Private area there is usually no plowing. So as my mom was driving me to school she forgot to turn in 4WD. So we went on driving without 4WD, and I never raised and eyebrow or get that eye expression that I wont stop in time. It was as if I did not need 4WD. Another thing was that when the tires are in snow the ice/ snow does not get stuck to the tire or in any crevices. I find this a really really great thing because you are able to retain traction. Another thing that I find useful is the rim protector. The tire has proper air pressure but the side wall kind of bulges out to prevent the rim from being scuffed from the curb or road debris. This is the best tire that I have ever used. This is like the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred but a bit better and alot cheaper. Plus these tires are made by Sumitomo. Sumitomo is a great tire company they make great tires. These tires also are very quiet and they have a great ride they turn rough roads to something smooth like glass. It is like combining the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred and the ComforTred together but without that huge price. Other than everything else, this is a perfect tire.
-----------------------update----------------------->
Well we witnessed a harsh New York winter as always. Now I'm thirteen years old. After riding on these tires for 9 months now on our XL-7, we somewhat went through some flats about 2-3 punctures. As of now I do know that it is a bit too vulnerable because it has quite soft tread blocks. When I do inspect the tires after they are punctured I find that these tires were punctured not by glass, or any metallic materials but by a mere splinter. Well I guess that is all. But then again I like the grip that these tires retain. This plays an important role in safety.
