Don't expect a Hyatt class hotel..it IS just a Holiday Inn!

Written: Nov 27 '03 (Updated Nov 28 '03)
Pros:Train theme is fun, pizza hut on site, small "grocery store" on site
Cons:SMALL rooms, pricey "all you can eat" meals, unsatisfied with Disney shuttle times/frequency.
The Bottom Line: It was a good, basic hotel- good for families on a budget. Probably would choose a "higher end" hotel next time because that is what we are used to.

Hotel was PACKED, kids everywhere. They offered rather lame nighttime activities (geared more toward older children, not my 4 and 2 yr old), but a great kiddie train ride around the hotel. I'm not really sure what the hours were for the train ride as I only saw them posted once. A few of their "toys" (actual train set up in lobby, squirt toy in pool, some games in the game room) did not work.

Breakfast buffet offered MANY choices...but it IS just basic cafeteria style food. Something for everyone.

Dinner bill could be fairly expensive, but the kids ate free. Average cost was $50.00 because drinks weren't included (meal was $16.99 per adult for buffet, drinks for everyone are extra...$5.00 for a beer). Not a great "deal" unless you really like to chow down, but they did have a pizza hut on site that offered quick, yummy food and not very expensive. They also had a small convenience store for snacks, soda, water, etc. We received a coupon upon check in for a free popcorn and two coke products which was a nice treat.

The shuttles are VERY limited so keep this in mind if you are relying on them for Disney transpo (and you have to book them the day before). Also, the return buses were packed and sometimes you have to stand on the bus the entire ride back to the hotel. The nice thing is that the guest services desk is open late, so when you return from one park, you can book your bus for the next morning if you like.

I loved the "walk in" feature of the pool. I could sit with my little one while my older one went in deeper. They got a kick out of the sprinklers in the pool. Swimmie diapers are required for kids under 4, and they do have pool toys that can be rented for a fee. We weren't around to use the pool in the daytime, but one little girl told me they played games by the pool and gave prizes to the kids.

Don't expect a Hyatt type hotel...it is definetly a Holiday Inn. Rooms are SMALL (there was barely any room to store our double stroller!), but we loved the 2 room feature and were happy for a fridge and microwave at no extra charge. Also, the kids room had a VCR so be sure to bring some tapes! The hotel does rent movies for a fee (I think it was about $6.50). Make sure to ask for an actual themed room because our "theme" was trains and all it consisted of was a train wallpaper border.

The hotel could use more elevators! We had one heck of a time with the double stroller. Also, if you like to go to bed early, I would not reccomend a poolside room as the pool is open until 10:00 and we heard lots of noise.

The overall value of the hotel was good for the price. It was always very clean, and the staff was friendly.
