After reading the other reviews I felt that I had to add a review. This hotel is really unique and I would go back in a minute. One reviewer did write that the food at the breakfast buffet was not hot and that the rooms were run down. I have to say that I see her point and do agree.
But, everything else was just so amazing that I can't complain.
As we walked in the door the place was geared to young children. There was a check in area for them called Kid check in. They got to sign their name and received a goody bag with crayons, crackers, coloring sheets and tokens for the game room. What fun!
I felt that the staff was well trained to help everyone to have a great time. They were very accommodating. We had a child who had a birthday and mentioned it in passing. They actually sent them a birthday card and balloon to the room. The child was thrilled. Each family staying at the property can have their picture taken and receive one free 8 by 10. I felt when we did not buy additional pictures the person seemed cold. They did not pressure us to buy more though. The pictures were excellent and I wished that I had bought more, at least one of each shot. This was at the end of the trip though and our money was running out as happens in Orlando. Ha!
The breakfast reminded me of summer camp. Bacon, eggs, oatmeal, fruit. It was nothing fancy but it was free and for a family of 6 a good value. It got us up and moving everyday. We would go eat and everyone found something they liked. It was good, but not great. Just the idea though of having breakfast ready, fast and then off to Disney made this a wonderful choice! Sometimes when we eat a continental breakfast and have doughnuts only it is not a good way to start the day for us or the children. Since it is all you can eat even the most hungry family members will be full.
We did not eat dinner there as we were always off at a park. They did offer kids eat free with adult meal purchase. The best deal that I saw with this was in the snack bar you could buy an adult pizza personal meal and get 2 free for the 2 children.
We did stay one day to swim. The swimming pool was great fun. They also had activities for the kids. Hula hoop contests, tye-dye t-shirts (a cost for this). There was always something going on and again the staff was super!
The rooms were fun as the kids had a room with bunk beds, then a large room with a bed for the parents. A television in every room. There was even a third pull out bed in the bunk bed room so one of our daughters had her friend stay for the night. Her family was visiting at the same time. Our room was decorated in the Disney theme. There are several themes and they are in the process of redecorating now. The decor in the lobby focused on a train theme. There is also a free train to ride out front but only for a limited time each day.
The rooms are being redone this summer, 2004. I hope that it does not raise the price as we want to go back often. The price now was about $125.00 per night per room depending on the season you are going. We were not there at peak season. I think that is well worth it with the breakfast included.
