Pros: Nice tiny shreds, not too much gravy, good tuna appeal for fish loving cats.
Cons: artificial flavors, meat by-products, soy protein concentrate
The Bottom Line: Cats will do a "Tuna Tango" but this falls a bit short. An appealing food, does it really need soy protein, artificial flavors or by-products? Recommend with reservations.

| patriciak's Full Review: Fancy Feast Grilled Tuna Feast Gourmet Cat Food |
Those of you who read my reviews, know that I buy a wide variety of canned cat food, and use them for several purposes. Those include helping maintain health for Lyra, a comically marked tortie and white American Curl who has chronic cystitis, for appetite stimulation and weight maintenance or gain, for Patrick, my sweet cream lynx point American Curl who is approaching his 17th birthday and dealing with Chronic Renal Failure and we believe Lymphoma. I don't review each food I try, but the worst and the best I do...so which is Fancy Feast Grilled Tuna Feast? Read on!
~The Food
While the photo for Fancy Feast Grilled Tuna Feast in Gravy" shows a can with the word "New", and does not include the word "gravy", if you go to the manufacturer's site, you will see that the grilled line of foods is no longer described as new, and each grilled flavor is described as one with gravy. The word "gravy" is now included on the current label. Once you've easily opened the can by lifting the convenient pop-top lid, you will find the can is filled with shredded bits of tan tuna in a semi-thick tan gravy...the smell is distinctly tuna. There is a high proportion of tuna to the gravy, unlike some bargain brands where it's mostly gravy with a shred or two of the promised protein.
Fancy Feast is manufactured by the Nestle Purina Petcare Company, in St. Louis, MO. Per the label this food is nutritionally complete per"Animal Feeding Tests using AAFCO procedures." and suitable for the both growing and adult cats.
~Feeding Guidelines 1 3 oz.can per 3 lbs. of weight, and up to twice this amount for kittens. Always be sure to have plenty of clean, fresh water available.
Taste Test Results
The texture is easier for my senior cat Patrick to chew (he no longer likes the sliced varieties), and he seems to love the gravy. Lyra also gives this a 4 paws up, and hopes you'll ignore the gravy still present on her about to be cleaned whiskers (she tends to be very enthusiastic about her meals).
~Ingredients List
Fish broth, tuna, liver, wheat gluten, chicken, meat by-products,corn starch- modified, natural and artificial flavors, tricalcium phosphate, salt, soy protein concentrate, titanium dioxide color, and a full complement of vitamins and minerals.
~Guaranteed Analysis
Crude Protein...(min)12%, Crude Fat...(min)2.%, Crude Fiber...(max)1.5%, Moisture...(max)78%,Ash...(max)2.7%, Taurine...(min)0.05%.
~Final Thoughts
This is a cat pleasing food (yes, there really is such a thing as the Tuna Tango) that falls short of meeting all my criteria for a superb cat food. I prefer no use of soy protein, artificial flavorings, or by-products in the foods my cats eat, but like a parent who allows their child candy, I will feed this on occasion. And of course, being sick and not eating, will drop all my reservations and I will feed the cat anything just to jump start it's appetite. I have to give this only a rating of 2 stars, especially as there are other Fancy Feast flavors that are superior in their ingredients list.
Thank you for reading!
