Fang Shui, with your host, Catfucius
Written: Apr 03 '05 (Updated Apr 04 '05)
Pros:Cute, humourous, short, and cheap
Cons:Uhm...it only appeals to cat people?
The Bottom Line: It's a fun little gimmicky book - something you'll like if you like cats.
Cats are exceedingly wise creatures, as any cat person would attest. They are always right, and they know it. Black fabric cannot be without its helping of white hair, floors must be textured with hairballs, and naps must be carefully scheduled in amongst their busy lifestyles. If their world is not flowing and harmonious for them [their Feng Shui], something must change. Us lowly humans are not always capable of understanding the astuteness of our feline friends, and for this, the wisdom of Catfucius from the Meow Dynasty must be imparted upon us.
When the needs of humans and cats coincide, peace and harmony will prevail. When the needs of humans and cats clash, peace and harmony will prevail for the cat.
Fang Shui is a delightfully humourous book that any cat person would get a kick out of. The colourful illustrations are cute, but the best part of the book lies in the accompanying text. Alternating pages have a quote from Catfucius and a pithy elucidation about why cats do what they do. Most were easily related to and things to chuckle at. No uproarious laughter; just muted chortles. Despite the childrens book appearance and being easy to read, the vast majority of children wouldnt appreciate the humour that each page is littered with, making this best suited for older audiences. It is a quick read, taking 10-15 minutes to devour the whole 80 pages. Costing $5, it makes a great gift (a perfect stocking stuffer) for any cat lover. Theres no reason to rush out and buy it, but its highly recommended should you come athwart it.
