I don't have the same set that is pictured in the photo but my set does say Farberware Classic Series so this has to be the right place for my review.
I bought this knife set myself because I had always been under the impression that Farberware made excellent cookware, so why not knives as well.
My set has wood grained handles and a wood grained butchers block to hold them.
It comes with 6 steak knives, 1 pair of heavy duty scissors, and 5 other various knives that include a paring knife, a butchers knife, and a serrated bread knife.
The set is very nice looking to the eye.
I loved the way the wood grained finish matched my cabinets.
The set worked great for a few months.
But.... And there's always the BUT isn't there.
I started to notice a few rust spots on some of the blades. I never left them soaking in water so I figured that the quality of the metal wasn't as great as it was made out to be?
Not sure? But I do know that over time the rust got much worse making them quite Ugly looking and I didn't want to put them out on my table.
After a few more months I noticed that those "SHARP - NEVER NEEDS SHARPENING" blades were now ripping though the food instead of cutting it.
The blades were getting dull.
This set really didn't hold up well and in about a years time I needed to buy some of the replacement knives due to the dullness or the rust.
In fact the only thing that I do actually enjoy in the whole knife set is the Scissors.
They are great kitchen scissors.
you can use them for all sorts of things from cutting up herbs, to cutting through chicken bones and fat.
I believe they are sold separately and would make a great asset to any kitchen.
I was sadly disappointed to find out that the people at Farberware do not take such pride in making their knives as they do their cookware.
I definitely won't be purchasing anymore Farberware knives in the future.
