I have bought this knife set for my mother a couple of years ago. The set includes 6 serrated steak knives in addition to the following: Chefs knife, slicer, bread, utility and paring knife, shears, sharpening steel. All the knives come in a nice 13-slot wooden block.
The knives have full-tang construction with three rivets each. The blades are precision taper ground and made of heavy-gauge carbon steel. The rivets are stainless steel. The handles are made of resin with good friction coefficient.
The knives are forged, not stamped and have large safety bolsters and good balance.
The knives that I got were made in China and the hand washing is recommended. My mother has no dishwasher, so that was not a problem. Since the knives are made of high-carbon steel, they have to be hand-washed (dishwasher fluid is highly corrosive) and dried immediately to avoid rusting.
Performance
The knives have worked well for two years so far. I sharpen them periodically using the included sharpening steel. Although they are not always dried immediately after they are washed, there is no sign of rust.
The knives are sharp and stayed sharp. The balance is very good and the knives are very solid. Although the knives are not as balanced as my Wusthof Grand Prix knives, they cost a fraction of Wusthofs with no significant tradeoff in performance or longevity (at least so far).
The included 6 steak knives are of the smaller variety but they work surprisingly well and never need sharpening. Although they are not display quality and do not look as nice as my (still inexpensive) Henckels steak knives, they work well and require no upkeep.
The block is solidly made and looks good too.
Bottom Line
This set of knives is an excellent choice if you want to get all essential knives you need with good performance and do not want to pay a fortune for forged German knives from Wusthof or Henckels. I highly recommend this set.
