Re: percolator NOT immersible (Reply to this comment)
by Prepoia
Thank you for pointing that out. The base is not immersable and the pot's electrical plug area is not immersable as well. I put it into a sink of water but am careful not to put that area down into the water. This review was written a couple of years ago and my definition of immersable must have been different than now. But, thanks again for pointing that out. It is important.

percolator NOT immersible (Reply to this comment)
by ncmwilliams
This reviewer clearly stated that this percolator was immersible, which was a selling point for me. However, the instructions that come with the percolator say "Never immerse base of percolator OR power base in water." So even though I love the coffeepot and the coffee it makes, and would totally recommend it, I think it is important to be as informed as possible about this percolator. So keep in mind, it is NOT immersible.

Amen to the comment about the grounds. I've learned through practice to cover the pipe in the middle of the basket with one finger while I fill the basket. Of course, for years I managed to sneak a few grounds around the filters on drip-type machines too, so I just say it adds character!

I sure love mine. The little prefilled filter things are nice but take out the individuality of the brew (grounds and all). Good luck on choosing. :)

I hadn't even considered a percolator. Maybe I should.
