They've been proven not to be useful.
It's like licking a battery or standing on one of those electrical body fat analyzers - there is electricity going through you, but it isn't going to effect your waistline.

excellent review, but i wonder, could it ever be useful (Reply to this comment)
by mmalleson
This is an excellent review. I wonder though, could this product ever be useful? After using it on a high setting for 15 minutes, one's muscles do tend to ache for a day or two, similar to an intense physical workout with situps. Why do they not have the same effect as situps? Presumably they help to build the muscle (as one assume from the muscle ache) even if they don't burn the fat.

no good product! (Reply to this comment)
by nehadar
when i saw this product advertised on television i was amazed with the results. Although i did not need to loose weight, the idea of having firm abs was very exciting. So i ordered the product. I have used this product for almost one year now, and it has shown no results. This product is "no good!". While using this product i almost got an electric shock! i have tried to call the fast abs "800" number and have failed over a period of three months. I usually don't buy anything of the television, and i think i have learned my lesson. I don't recommend this product to anyone. It is useless and unsafe.

I've told about a dozen friends exactly what you wrote here. Don't bother, here's why it was developed, here's how it works, and here's why it won't work for you.
Well written - now I can just save my breath and send them to your review. Would love to ask you a few questions, if you have a chance email me - take care & great job!

This is what I found by checking with the Better Business Bureau:
Phone Number:
(800) 648-6618
I would call their customer service number and ask where to send it, and how it should be sent (if the address is a PO Box, then you need to send it through the postal service rather than UPS or FedEx).
You can find the Better Business Bureau report at:
http://www.labbb.org/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsbroker1/C%3A/Inetpub/wwwroot/
SouthlandReport/default.htm?hCompID=13163161&hAKAID=1&hAddrID=1
They list a couple addresses there, but I wouldn't send them there until the company confirms that they are a return address.

I appreciate when a reviewer can decimate a product like you did, great job. Capitalism is a mixed evil, with companies trying to pry money out of hapless, hopefuls with products such as this. There needs to be more honest people like you in the world :)

Would like to talk to you (Reply to this comment)

Hi, I am working on a high-profile national journalism project about some of these products. I would really like to talk to people who have tried them, if only for background information. Your experience could really help get important information out to other potential consumers. Please e-mail me at karenhey@yahoo.com and let me know how best to reach you. Thanks! Karen

I didn't know that. I might add it to my epinion, if you don't mind.
Now lets see if I can find a reference link that notes his disapproval of the product...

said that his comments were taken out of context for the product, and even said that it doesn't work in another interview.

Can a pregnant, epileptic woman with a pacemaker use this thing? wink, wink
But, seriously, thanks for an informative review on a contraption that I had my doubts about!
Thanks,

You are right but you're too kind... (Reply to this comment)

I would have stated "It doesn't work" in much stronger terms. These kind of sleazy companies have been making money off people's hopes for years. And even if you have incredibly strong abs like my husband, people might not think you do if they're covered with a layer of flubber. Fitness is a complex thing.

Re: I just got this (Reply to this comment)
by Kris.
You only need to put on a thin film of gel. The pads on the belt are kind of plasticy (is that a word?) so you only need to wipe it off with a kleenex to clean the belt. I would add more gel each time.
The gel felt like aloe lotion on the skin. I washed it off when I was done. The gel should last a long time, given the small amount you use.

I just got this (Reply to this comment)
by bonniesayers
but have not started it yet. I was wondering about the gel on the belt. Can you feel the gel and how easy is it to remove from the belt or do you just keep putting more gel on each time?
I was experiencing some dizziness recently so hesitated starting this and was not sure if the gel would cause a rash on me or not.
Thanks for sharing about this system, I had high hopes of this working but will at least try the levels and give it a shot.

Re: hi! (Reply to this comment)

I got the information from the instructions included with the product. The company didn't explain why they recommended people with MS to avoid using it, and I'm not too comfortable guessing.

So glad you reviewed this. I've been checking out reviews of this and just don't know what to think. I'm curious about why it's not recommended for MS if it helps tone (stimulate?) the nervous system. Could it not help?
