Pros:Towels are indeed VERY soft and have a nice look.
Cons:Very poorly made--start to unravel after 2 washings!
The Bottom Line: Don't buy these towels. They look and feel great, but are cheaply made and the edges start unraveling after just a couple washes.
We recently bought a new house, and I decided to buy new linens, etc. to go along with it. One item I really wanted, was to get some very nice towels for our master bath.

I shopped a number of places...Linens N Things, Bed Bath & Beyond, Burlington Coat Factory, WalMart, Target. In the end, however, I went back to Linens N Things. Although I had looked at their entire selection of towels, I had been immediately attracted to the "Fieldcrest Softest Towel In The World" and it had remained at the top of my list. I thought that being Fieldcrest, they would be good quality, I fell in love with the feel of them, and I thought at the price they would probably last considerably longer than the cheaper towels I've purchased previously from discount stores such as WalMart. I purchased a set of 4 bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths, and headed home.
The towels look great with a vertical ribbed pattern on them. Even my husband remarked that I'd made a great choice. And there's no denying that they are indeed very soft and plush. And they are also generously sized.
So, the first thing I did was pop them in the washer. They came out looking great and even fluffier than before--I could hardly wait to take a shower. In fact, after taking a shower, I felt completely pampered, these towels were so luxurious.
A slight disappointment, however, was that they tend to dry very slowly. Considering how thick they are, I suppose this shouldn't come as a surprise.
My first major disappointment, however, came after the second washing when I pulled one of the bath towels out of the washer and saw that half of one edge had completely unraveled! This towel was less than a week old! Instantly, I decided that it must be just a single defective towel, so I headed back to Linens N Things to return it. They allowed me to make an exchange, and I headed back home.
Today, however, I just did another load of laundry and here is another bath towel with several inches of the edge unraveled! This was probably the fourth washing. And now, looking at the edging, I can see that all of the edges were finished using a very largely spaced basting type of stitch--no wonder they are falling apart!
I highly doubt that I'd be allowed to exchange them again as it has been longer, so I'm going to get out my sewing machine and re-sew all of the edges in hopes that that will solve the problem, but I certainly would not expect to have to do this with towels that were $15 each! The ironic thing is, my previous "cheap" towels from WalMart lasted months before the edges started to unravel. They weren't quite as luxurious, but they were certainly a better deal.
As much as I love the feel of these towels, I would definitely not recommend them.
