hurdler13's Full Review: Final Fantasy IX for PlayStation 1
Final Fantasy 9 can be summed up in one word, Amazing! This was the first video game ever to really capture me in it. I remember the first time I played it, I was glued to the screen for hours on end(playing well over a month), only getting up enough to go the bathroom, and come get help off the internet.
The first aspect of this game that I loved was without a doubt the plot. The story of not just one hero, but several. Several heroes whose own personal stories tangle all together to form an unmatchable team. Zidane and his conquest to find where he is from. Dagger and her adventure to grow as a woman and learn of the power she has. Steiner's quest which is that of only protection, but opens his views on the world around him. Vivi's journey to find out who or what he really is. That is just four of the eight characters. Freya, Amerant, Eiko, and Quina all have their own personal quest and revelations along the way.
But the characters aren't the only good part of the plot. Another aspect of the plot is how it changes so often. Once moment your on your way from Alexandia to Lindblum, then your watching Brahne die, then your on a whole other planet. From reading that your probably thinking "Complicated" but it isn't. It runs smoothly together so even the simplest of brains can understand what is happening.
Again I mention the characters though, because without them this plot would be nothing. Even the villians in this game give you the chills. Everyone is so well developed, and you can see the changes in everyone comparing Disk 1 to Disk 4. Some are Physical(Cid changing from a frog to a human) some are Emotional(Zidane struggling with his love for Garnet) and some are mental(Steiners learning about the world and people around him) This game once again is simply, Amazing.
For those who are looking for the part of the review about how the game plays, what the screens look like and stuff, I'm probably not the one to ask. Because I will say great, because it was the first one I've every tried, so I'm pretty bias. I'm sure however, everyone would agree they are great!
Final Fantasy 9, opened a whole new world to me, and here I go again, its amazing, no, its better!
