By far, I’m not a huge fan of crocodiles, but Fisher Price has this figured out - more than likely. So, when they produce a toy that looks like a crocodile - it obviously looks ‘cuter’ than it should - such is the case for the Fisher Price Amazing Animals Crocodile.
About The Crocodile
The Fisher Price Amazing Animals Crocodile was actually part of a two-pack animal set that also included a hippo. This set was purchased for my son, by his grandmother, who also bought him the wildly popular Sing And Go Choo Choo.
Fisher Price’s Crocodile can be purchased by itself or as part of a two pack set (like we received).
The Crocodile is constructed of hard plastic in bright green two tone colors. He has a large mouth with a red tongue and white teeth. When you push down on his mouth he makes a quick squeak. All four legs have brightly colored feet of different colors and textures. The legs click when turned. The crocodiles tail can also be twisted around and it also makes a clicking noise.
As far as size the Crocodile is about seven inches in length and about 4 inches across. Since the toy is made out of a heavy duty plastic we have found him to be the ultimate toy in durability, but the last thing you would want your young child to throw at you. In other words, the Crocodile is somewhat heavy for his size.
Our Experience
My son has had particular fun with this Crocodile because of the squeaking mouth. He loves to bang on his head and hear the squeaks. This is a feature special to the crocodile, other animals that he has in this line have clicking mouths, if their mouths move at all, some don't.
My favorite aspect about this toy is its lack of batteries. The toy does not perform any special tasks, like music or talking, it only ‘clicks’ and ‘squeaks’ which requires no battery power what-so-ever.
Since the Crocodile has a smooth surface he is a breeze to clean. We have not had the crocodile in any major messes, but I do occasionally sanitize toys with disinfecting wipes and this toy only takes a few seconds with the Crocodile. I would almost be willing to bet you could submerge the Crocodile in water without any damage, but he’d probably take some time to dry.
We first received this toy when my son was seven months old, but it is one of the few that he still enjoys at 20 months of age. At this point we’ve had to have a few ‘discussions’ about waving this toy around because it is essentially a heavy hunk of plastic and I can tell you it hurts if it lands on your foot or hits your leg in mid-flight.
The Fisher Price Amazing Animals Crocodile has been a great addition to my sons toy collection. It is a simple toy that he can play with by itself and he can also use it with the Sing & Go Choo Choo and the other animals from that set.
Overall
Fisher Price’s collection of animals is truly unique. They're small animal action figures made just for baby. They are attractively designed and make some of the ugliest animals cute yet, still recognizable. Even thought I do not like Crocodiles, I highly recommend this one.
