A few months ago I came across the Bounce with me Blue in the toy store. Since my 4 year old still hasn't outgrown Blue and loves to dance and move around to music, I figured a bouncing Blue that plays "When your happy and you know it" would be perfect for him.

Bounce with me Blue is very similar to the Blue's Clues - Musical Hug-A-Blue in regards to the size and color. The musical Blue stands straight up and Bounce with me Blue is standing on all 4 legs, like a normal puppy. Blue stands 9 inches high and is about 6 inches wide.

The filling of Blues body is solid plastic and then covered with blue felt like fabric. Blues face and ears are soft, and her face is detailed with plastic eyes, a plastic nose and a cloth tongue sticking out. Blues left front paw has her trademark paw print printed on it, but the only way to catch a glance of her paw print is to lift her up. Her legs are not moveable.

And what does Blue do that is so amusing?

Aside from just looking cute, Blue will bounce around and bark along to When your happy and you know it when you press her left ear. When the small sensor is pressed in her ear, she will let out 3 barks and then she will start vibrating, which results in her bouncing around the floor. Blue will then move around the floor in a circle. She doesn't bounce off the floor at all and she will stop bouncing and playing music after about a minute.

Bounce with me Blue does not have an on - off button and there is no way to turn her off while she is bouncing and playing her song. It's a good thing the song doesn't last that long, otherwise this could have been a very annoying toy.

Since there are batteries involved here, Blue cannot be thrown into the washing machine. Instead I have cleaned her from dirt and spills with a rag and some soapy water.

Overall Recommendations

Bounce with me Blue is recommended for kids 18 months and older. I think a child younger than 18 months may get hurt if they were crawling over Blue and fell face first into her hard body. I also don't think kids under 18 months would be able to squeeze the sensor in her ear to make her bounce and play music.

I also think kids close to 5 years old may be bored with Bounce with me Blue unless they are still a die hard Blues Clues fan. My 4 1/2 year old has been losing more and more interest in Bounce with me Blue, but I'm sure if he had this when he was younger, he would have enjoyed it as much as he enjoyed the musical hug a Blue.

I would recommend Bounce with me Blue for any boys and girls under 5 years old who like Blue, and like to hear toys play music.
