Pros:Compact, portable, cute design, gets baby off ground, protects baby
Cons:Recall, short use life, zipper is noisy
The Bottom Line: Small and compact the Bounce n Play Activity Dome travels well and keeps baby safe.
When we saw the compact design of the Fisher Price Bounce ‘N Play Activity Dome, we gladly accepted it as a hand-me-down from some friends. Knowing Baby Z would be little during the summer travel time, this was going to be a perfect addition to our traveling gear.

Bounce, Play and Sleep
Set up to be a portable bouncy seat and play area, the Fisher Price Bounce ‘N Play creates a safe place for baby in a variety of situations including the beach, outside, and on vacation. The piece itself sits off the ground a few inches - keeping baby off the ground - with the “bed” portion suspended so it moves slightly with baby’s movements. This has come in handy on many occasions this summer with the best being while we were in a leaking tent at our family reunion. It also gives me a place I can set the baby while we are outside playing on the play structure as it keeps him up off the wood chips.
The walls of the play area are only about 12" deep so the play dome is best suited for babies who cannot yet sit on their own. At almost 6 months I still use our Bounce n Play. It is making a great place for my little guy to attempt to sit up by himself and fall over at will. I have it set up in our house so he is safe when the others in our home get running around.
This 3’ oval bed/play area features a sunshade on one end and bug net on the other that zip together to create a dome to protect baby from the elements. While we were at a family function it was nice to be able to put the little guy down somewhere he would be out of the sun. We did have a concern that it may get too warm inside the dome, but really it was no worse than being outside.
The Dome is brightly colored and has a cute bug theme to it that is inviting, yet not over stimulating for little ones. Included with this are 3 toys that attach with Velcro to the top portion of the sunscreen. This makes it good for play on either back or tummy since the shade can be up or down. The toys are all stuffed and have a different function (1 is a rattle, 1 has a mirror and 1 has ribbons).
Then when you need to, the Bounce n Play folds up to nearly nothing (a few inches thick) for easy storage. Folding up and down really isn’t all that tricky. Just release the legs and bring them up together. They will click into place and the Velcro handle further keeps it together. This small design is what I love this piece for. We used the Bounce n Play for two vacations we took this summer. Instead of packing the awkward pack n play the Bounce n Play could either stand at the edge of the trunk or lay on top of something. This came in very helpful when we were forced to pack all our camping gear into my mid-sized sedan. On top of this, the small size fit nicely in our sleeping spaces for these two trips. If we had to we could have put it up in our conversion van as well.
The Fisher Price Bounce n Play is no longer made due to a product recall (see below), but it is available in various used forums such as ebay. Personally I love our Bounce n Play Dome and I believe my son does as well. He is able to play with a few small toys safely and avoid getting run over by his 3-year old brother. He will tolerate playing in the dome for around 20 minutes, which gives me time to get dinner taken care of and hopefully eaten. The dome is in impeccable condition considering it was given to us used and I would assume the other person received it used as well.
Buyers will see that the Fisher Price Bounce n Play Activity Dome is on the recall list due to a suspension strap having the tendency to break causing the dome to tilt to one side creating a suffocation hazard. The version we have is on that list but there are other similar versions available that are safe. When we were using it as a bed, the baby was not large enough to cause any damage and now we primarily use the dome for supervised play time I don’t have a concern for my little guy being in the dome.
