My story
When I was expecting my youngest child Noe I was bound and determined to get a regular baby swing and get rid of that awful take along swing that I dreaded using with my daughter. I went to Target and fell in love with the Fisher Price Flutterbye swing. First of all it is a Fisher Price and I love the quality of their items. The other plus that I found with this swing were the colors, they are very bright and appealing to babies. So I registered for it and was delighted when my co-workers purchased it for me.
Basics about this swing
This swing is great because your baby can activate the lights, sounds and music of this swing by just pulling on one of its hanging toys, or mom, you can activate it for 10 minutes of continuous play. This swing plays 10 children’s songs and has 8 different sound effects such as a bird tweeting. The little birdie’s fluttering motion is really unique and will mesmerize your baby and keep him or her occupied for quite awhile which is enough to make any mom happy. Getting baby in and out of this swing is a breeze! Just swing the toy bar up and back and it is out of the way. It has a great reclining seat which is wonderful for the smaller and younger babies. And it has 6 different swing speeds and unlike most swings, you can actually differentiate between the speeds. And if you are in a small house or apartment you will be please to know that this swings steel frame folds up so you can store it away.

What I love about this swing
I am in a smaller home and there is just not a lot of room for all the toys and items that come with 3 children so the fact that I can fold this swing up and stick it in the hall closet is a real plus for me. I also love how easy it is to get baby in and out of this swing, no more back breaking bending that is associated with portable take along swings. The toy bar flips up and back, remove the lap tray, unsnap the 3 point harness and out comes baby. It makes it equally easy to put baby in the swing. The fact that I can completely remove the cover and wash it is a big plus to me because my little man LOVES his swing and he spends a lot of time sitting in it motionless and eating his cookies so you can imagine the mess a 7 month old will make while eating. The hanging toys on the toy bar are great at getting little mans attention and he can actually reach up and grab the toys and pull on them which of course activates the sounds and music. No baby item or toy should ever be made with out a sound off switch and Fisher Price knows this, so you have the option to flip the switches on the toy bar and decrease the noise level or turn it off as well as turn the lights off. The swing itself requires 4 D batteries and the toy bar requires 4 AA batteries and these are not included with the swing. I have noticed that with Energizer batteries I don’t get as long a life span as I do when I use Duracell but I have had to place the batteries in the swing about once every four to five weeks and in the toy bar about every six to seven weeks.
What my baby loves about this swing
Noe loves this swing and will sit in it for hours if I let him. He gets very excited when we get near the swing and starts his baby talk immediately as he is reaching for it. Once I place him in the swing, in motion or not he begins to pull on the toys just knowing that if he pulls hard enough he just might actually get one of those things in his mouth. I can place his cup or bottle on the tray for him to easily access as well as his favorite cookies.
The lights just mesmerize him and he will talk to them at the top of his lungs. You can really tell he loves his swing, especially by the big smile on his little face.
Ok I am convinced, where can I get this swing
You will find this swing by going to your local Toys R Us , Target and Babies R Us stores. If you are looking for the deluxe model those are sold exclusively at Toys R Us. I have not been able to locate this swing at any Wal-Mart in my area. When I registered for the swing it was priced at $79.00 but I have seen it for as much as $90.00 so look around and see if you can locate it cheaper.
In conclusion
I personally have not found any negatives about this swing. It is easy to use, easy to put together and equally as easy to get baby in and out of it. I highly recommend this swing and have bought it for friends as shower gifts as well. No more bending over portable swings for me!
