Cons: Even without operator error, low picture quality.
The Bottom Line: BUY THIS! There is nothing better than seeing what your child finds photo-worthy! We think ours will be an insurance adjustor b/c she took pic's of all her gifts!!
jlundquist1's Full Review: Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Girls
Our Daughter (3, two weeks shy of 4 yo ) received the Fisher-Price Kid-Tough Digital Camera for Christmas from grandma. Of course she got it in pink although I notice it's also available in blue.
The camera is surely comfortable enough for kids 3+. It has very simple buttons (shutter, power, 2 review, & delete). I was pleased because the buttons are simple and were easy to explain to our daughter. The camera also makes very very distinct sounds when you hit a button. For the power button you/they need to hold it down for a minute before it powers off/on. For the delete button you/they must hit it twice after an audio and visual prompt to delete a photo. The shutter button is right where it should be so that no fingers get in the photo. Best part about this camera for kids is that it has a double view finder which makes it super easy for them to take a photo. The camera also has a slot on the back for it's USB cable. I noticed that this slot is covered by a SPRING LOADED plastic door which will hopefully keep curious kiddos (and play-dough) out of it!
So what about the pictures? Well, it depends on your child! Ok they stink. I have a cell phone that takes 1 megapixel shots and I thin this camera is about the same. However this is a kids camera and I have to say that I'm happy with the photos knowing a 4yo took them (even if they're all off center and/or missing a head)
The LCD screen is pretty lousy and I think that's the biggest downfalls to the camera. With internal memory the camera can only hold about 50 photos, which when you give it to your child will last about 3 minutes! It does however (Thank Goodness) have an SD card slot. We had a leftover 64mb card which apparently will hold over 200 photos.
Downloads are quick and although I don't like the software, if you have an SD card and reader you don't need it.
Overall, for $70 this is a GREAT camera for kids, just don't expect great pictures
