The Bottom Line:
I reccommend this toy to any one with a toddler girl! It's fun and educational at the same time. You won't be disappointed.
When my daughter's 1st birthday was coming near I was overwhelmed by all the gift choices. I have never had a problem with any products by Fisher-Price, so I decided to look within that brand first.

I came across the Fisher-Price Laugh and Learn Say Please Tea Set. She already had a couple of other toys from the Laugh and Learn Line and she loved them. I decided to get the tea set for her and I wasn't disappointed. She is now 18 months and she still plays with it everyday!
What it comes with
1 Pink and Purple Talking Tea Pot (complete with smiley face)
3 tea cakes in the shapes of a circle, square, and triangle
1 pink shape sorting platter for the tea cakes
2 smiley purple tea cups
3 Modes of Play
The Talking Tea Pot has three modes of play. You move the little switch on the front up and down to choose among "off", "Learning Time", "Music Time", and "Play Time". All the modes are fun and teach something new! The switch is easy to move so my daughter doesn't need help turning it on.
Switch to the little picture of a "123" to pick "Learning Time". A musical voice with an English Accent will say "It's learning time!". Press the Pink Tea Bag with the Music Note at the top to hear a cute song about shapes and numbers. Open and close the purple lid at the top to hear the pot say "Open, Close", "Hello, Bye-Bye", and "Up, Down". Tip the pot to hear a "pouring sound". The pot will say "Mmm, mmm, more please", "Why, Thank you!", or "You're very welcome" when you do this. My daughter loves to push the music button over and over and over again. The great thing is that the song is so cute, it doesn't get annoying (not to me anyway:)
Switch to the little picture of music notes to pick "Music Time". The voice will say "It's Music Time!". This mode has two different songs that play when you press the musical tea bag. The songs teach manners, numbers, and sharing. Open and close the lid to hear musical notes, and tip the pot to hear more musical notes. These sounds sort of go up and down on a scale from low to high. My daughter really loves this. It's fun for her and introduces her to music.
Switch to the little picture of a spiral circle to pick "Play Time". The tea pot will make a bubbling sound when you do this. This mode makes real life tea pot sounds. Press the tea bag to hear the pot "whistle". Open and close the lid to hear the tea pot giggle and make a "clanking" sound (just like if you were to put the lid back on a real tea pot). Tip the tea pot to hear a pouring or bubbling sound. This mode is fun because it makes my daughter feel like a "big girl".
Look and Feel
The pot, cups, shapes, and tray are all light weight and easy for little ones to carry around. They are made of plastic so if they are dropped they won't break. The pot is mostly pink with a purple lid, pink and purple flowers and numbers, white lacy trim, and a pink tea bag that sits in blue water. Everything is connected to the tea pot; nothing comes off. You don't have to worry about small pieces getting lost or eaten.
The cups, cakes, and tray are separate. They are not small enough to fit in the mouth completely or be swallowed; this toy is very safe and baby/toddler friendly. The cakes are chocolate (square), vanilla with white frosting (circle), and peaunt butter/caramel with pink frosting (triangle). They all fit on the round pink tray which is also a "shape sorter". Each cake only fits on one place on the tray. This teaches the difference in shapes and helps little ones understand the concept of matching.
The two purple smiley cups are so cute and small. My daughter loves to use them to feed her dolls. This set also teaches roll playing. I am amazed that at 18 months my daughter can sit and have a tea party with her dolls, pour pretend tea in the cups, and give me some tea to drink. It is so cute and I have fun playing with her. I'm a grown up and this little toy desn't even bore me!
This is listed on the box for ages 12-36 months. I'll bet my daughter will play with it longer than that though. I was still having tea parties when I was in kindergaten. I have a feeling this toy will be around for awhile.
Batteries and Assembly
The tea pot does require 2 "AA" batteries, but the great thing is that they're included! My daughter has been using this toy for 6 months and we haven't hade to replace the batteries. I would keep some extras around though, just in case. You never know how many times a button has been pushed sitting on the store shelf.
The other great thing is that there is no assembly required. The moment you take it out of the box you can give it to your little one to play with. No waiting or impatient foot stomping while you try to read directions and find the right tools; this toy makes it easy as "tea".
Price and Convenience
We picked this up at Wal-Mart back in March for around $12. It was on sale though. I looked at Wal-Mart.com and it's going for $15.97 right now, which is still a great deal since a alot of really nice, long lasting toys cost more than $20. You might want to check your local Wal-Mart or Target first to see who has the best deal. What's nice is that it's convenient. You don't have to go to a specialty store to get it. You can even order it online and have it shipped to your local Wal-mart for free.
Overall this toy is a great buy. It keeps my daughter entertained while teaching her role playing, shapes, numbers, and even manners and sharing. I think any little girl would love this. My 4 year old niece even loves to play with it when she comes over. It makes a great, affordable gift. Christmas is coming; why not get your shopping done early?
