| KMINER's Full Review: Fisher Price Little People Floaty Boat with Sea Ca... |
My son has become hopelessly in love with the Little People in the past 6 months. He got a video from I don't even know where, and has watched the thing to death. From that starting point, he always wanted to talk about his "friends" Michael and Maggie and Sonya Lee and ....
For his birthday in May we were looking around for bath toys. He was turning 3 years old and really wanted to be entertained in the tub. We happened upon Fisher Price Little People Floaty Boat with Sea Captain in Toys R Us for just under $15.00. There are older versions of this same toy (they were sold with a little blonde boy dressed in green named "Eddie"), but the newest "version" seems to have all the pieces listed here and what we have at home.
Fisher Price Little People Floaty Boat with Sea Captain was met with great joy by Colin. One of the stories on his video was about this boat and the captain. Perfect. This toy comes with a main plastic colorful boat, the Little People captain, a red lobster, a purple floaty with hippo design (the captain fits perfectly in there to float around in) and one of those plastic fish you can squeeze water into and then spray out. The boat has a small overhang and life rings on the side that serve as knobs. These knobs turn the "cockpit" area - on one side is a sleeping area and the other the cabin area. Each area is detailed with little items stuck onto there to help further make each area look realistic. An orange, long fishing pole with hook sits off the end.
I have to say all of the pieces are really durable, still look new months later and work really well - except for the plastic fish. I have a really hard time getting it to "suck in' wanter - and it is impossible for Colin to do so. So the fish kind of goes by the way side.
Colin really mainly plays with the captain and the boat itself - the other accessories are not really used much. This made sense to me as the accessories are, of course, not featured in the story so are no use to Colin in his "re-creation". The boat is pretty sturdy and ours can take in a lot of water before it will start to sink. Colin often just places the captain around the boat and repeats lines from the video - but he has also used his imagination to have other bath toys "attack" the boat also.
It came "ready to play" once out of the packaging and really hasn't required any cleaning or care on our part (short of remembering to dump all of the water out of it once finished with the bath).
Colin loves this bath toy and I have come to really trust the Little People name. The toy looks brand new and I can totally trust its safety when he has it in the tub. He loves imagining scenes from the video, and also has started creating his own scenes with the captain. I do recommend the Fisher Price Little People Floaty Boat with Sea Captain as a pretty useful bath toy - especially for Little People fans!
