| KMINER's Full Review: Fisher-Price Little People Musical Christmas Train |
Last holiday my son (at age 3 and a 1/2) fell in love with all of the Little People characters and sets. My husband went a little overboard and purchased a number of play items from this line - enough so that I can to purchase a special bin for just the Little People toys to go in! My personal favorite, and one of my son's, is this Fisher-Price Little People Musical Christmas Train.
Maybe because I picked it out, or maybe because I found it on clearance for $3.00 at our local Toys R Us! Maybe it's just because I love the Christmas season ... for whatever reason, this toy gets played with a lot in this house.
It comes as a 3 part train - a main engine and 2 cars, all in holiday colors and too cute for words. It also comes with a Santa, Mrs. Claus, and reindeer Little People figure ... also adorable. My son loves trains more than anything, so incorporating his favorite holiday with his favorite type of toy - I just knew we'd have a hit! On the seat area in the main engine there is an area to press down (like when the character is seated on it) that plays the tune "Jingle Bells". The first car holds the reindeer, complete with food, and has a rail on one side that pulls down so the reindeer can "walk" off (of course!). The second car holds a standing area and baking tray of cookies for Mrs. Claus. The cars are coupled together with durable plastic hooks.
The Fisher-Price Little People Musical Christmas Train does come with a battery, and in the year that we have had it we haven't had to replace it yet! (it's one of those button cell batteries). It also has a plastic "string" in the front for the child to pull the train along. The string is long enough that this can be done fairly easily. The toy is very durable - it has been drug all over our house, and throw in the container many a time with no damage. It still looks vibrant and brand new a year later!
Our son did stop playing with this during the summer, but we've noticed him pull it out more and more this month (October). It's re-peaked his interest in the Christmas holiday, and the whole season. The train has gone on many adventures with the other Little People places, homes, vehicles, and people.
The spots on the train are interchangable - enough so that Maggie, Eddie, Michael, and all their friends have gotten chances to ride on and engineer the train!
I love the chunky pieces from Little People sets. They are always so easy for my son to play with independently, and so nicely made that they make a great gift.
The Fisher-Price Little People Musical Christmas Train is a cute and fun toy that would be sure to please any young Christmas, train, or Little People fan - and was the perfect choice for our son who loves all 3!
