After my daughter, Jordan was born, and I started going through night after night of her not getting to sleep easily, I needed something to help calm her down at bedtime and drift off to a peaceful sleep. I went to the store looking for something soothing to help her fall asleep and ended up buying the Peaceful Planet Aquarium for Jordan as a Christmas gift last year.

When I put the Peaceful Planet Aquarium in Jordan's crib she just stared at it in amazement, watching the mommy and baby fish go round and round. I would turn it on at bedtime so she could have something to look at and listen to before she fell into a peaceful sleep. The aquarium stays on for 9 minutes at a time, I would have to turn it on one more time before Jordan finally feel asleep. Jordan just loves watching the fish go round and round, listening to the lullabies, and looking at the waves that are projected on the ceiling. When it does turn off, and if she is still awake she cries until I turn it back on for her.

Even now at 8-months old she still loves it, and cries when it turns off. When I put her down at bedtime she rolls over so she can watch it, and tries to touch the fish. Now that she is older, Jordan can turn it on herself sometimes. A few times in the middle of the night I hear it turn on, be it from her rolling around and turned it on accidentally, or she turned it on herself.

The Peaceful Planet's background is full of color to keep babies' attention. The floor of the ocean is a yellowish color, with gray rocks and green sea planets. The water is bright blue, with bubbles. The mommy and baby fish are dark and light orange, with pink dots, and big blue eyes.

On the side is a button that turns on the aquarium, the fish then move round and round by a mechanism inside that moves, there are 8 plastic pieces inside the aquarium, that you can see, that make bubbles as they move around the aquarium. The outside of the aquarium is made out a hard durable blue and white plastic. The front of the aquarium has a design of bubbles and sea planets on the white plastic background.

There is another knob on the side that controls how bright you want the waves projected on the ceiling and how bright the front of the aquarium will be. I put it so it isn't too bright at night to keep it darker in her room for Jordan can sleep. The top of the aquarium where the waves are projected onto the ceiling is a blue plastic piece. You can see on the top is a piece that moves up and down to make the waves on the ceiling "roll".

The Peaceful Planet Aquarium also has a knob for how loud you want the lullabies or waves to be. I like it on lower when Jordan is trying to sleep, so it calms her down, and isn't to loud it keeps her up all night.

You can chose from 2 soothing lullabies-Brahms' Lullaby and Rock-A-Bye-Baby to soothe your baby. Or chose from 4 soothing aquatic sounds-Ocean Waves, Splashing Fish, Falling Raindrops and a Babbling Brook

There are two straps so you can attach it to your babies crib. The straps are made out of a soft durable plastic, and you have 4 slots so you can adjust it however you want onto the crib rails. If you don't want it on your babies crib, it can be used sitting on a dresser very nicely too. When strapped to crib, it stays on securely so no need to worry that it falls on your baby at night.

The Peaceful Planet Aquarium takes 4 size C batteries, and stays securely in place with a plate that screws on tightly. One bad thing about the Peaceful Planet Aquarium is it "eats" batteries in no time. We don't use it that much at all, and we change batteries every 2 weeks or so.

All in all the Peaceful Planet Aquarium is a great buy, it helps calm Jordan down at naps or bedtime, she loves the waves, and music. The Peaceful Planet Aquarium is durable, and well worth it's price of $29.99. To clean the aquarium, wipe it with a damp cloth. I recommend the Peaceful Planet Aquarium to any parent with a cranky baby that needs some soothing sounds at sleep time.
