This is one of those items that I just had to buy for my baby. It was adorable! I was determined to get the best price available for this item.I searched endlessly through eBay and Yahoo, losing auction after auction. I scanned the aisles of K Mart, Target and Babies R Us. I had people everywhere looking for "the best deal." I finally found it at Wal Mart.
The Fisher Price Peaceful Planet Aquarium is a mother's dream come true. It can put to sleep my entire family, baby and Daddy included, in 10 minutes flat. Mommy loves it, because I get a chance to sit down, kick up my feet, and take a break.
This aquarium can be fastened to baby's crib by 2 plastic straps and a tie, or it can sit on baby's dresser. The fish playfully chase each other while blowing bubbles in the waves on the screen. The directions say you can project waves on the ceiling through a light on top of the aquarium, but I've never been able to do this. There are seven sound modes, including four relaxing ocean sounds, as well as 3 familiar lullabies. These can be combined, or played individually. You can adjust the volume of these sounds. My son prefers the babbling brook at medium volume, and my husband tends to fall asleep with the falling raindrops.
The Peaceful Planet Aquarium needs 4 C sized batteries to run. It does take a lot of battery power. We had to replace the batteries by the third day, but that's probably because we were so intrigued by the aquarium that we were constantly playing with it. Our second set of batteries has lasted more than a week. The aquarium automatically shuts off after 7 minutes to help conserve batteries.
I highly recommend this toy. It is well worth the money. I suggest investing in rechargeable batteries.
