| neosmom's Full Review: Fisher Price Rescue Heroes Body Force: Al Pine Arc... |
We bought this figure because our son had a Rescue Heroes video where Al Pine was one of the stars. He really likes to act out what he sees on the videos and it's almost inevitable when he sees a new Hero that he doesn't have, he comes asking for one.
Well, Al Pine isn't one of the more common figures and this Body Force one was the first that we found. He's pretty cool. He comes with a snowboard and a cool pick-axe thing that flings over his shoulder and into his hand when you push a button. It's a really cool effect. We are used to paying $8-10 for the Rescue Hero figures, so finding this guy at $4.89 seemed like a steal.
Well, the snowboard is an issue. It's supposed to click into the backpack for storage, but it doesn't stay there. The slightest little movement knocks it off. If you try to put it on Al's feet, same problem. It just won't stay put.
Other than the snowboard, it's a cool figure and we can't find any problems. Since the snowboard is so frustrating to my son and causes much yelling, we tried hiding it one evening after he went to bed. I figured that he would wake up in the morning and not notice the missing board and play with the figure happily. Was I wrong! He noticed immediately and went on a housewide search for it. So, I "found" it in the living room and he was thrilled. Of course, within minutes he was back to being frustrated with the toy again.
But my son never, ever gives up. I think my dislike for this toy is based more on my own problems with all the yelling than my son's actual opinion of the toy. In spite of all this frustration, Al is out with the rest of the heroes very regularly. I just get tired of hearing the angry cries.
