| Nicholmere's Full Review: Fisher Price Sesame Street Shape Sorter 39054 |
A shape sorter toy that should stay on the store shelf.
Light but dangerous!
The barn is fairly light so my eighteen-month-old daughter can carry it and fling it about quite easily. Unfortunately this means that she can bang it on her brothers head. The swinging-hinge style handle has proven to be a danger too, because my daughters fingers get pinched between the handle and the barn as she carries the toy.
Farm animals?
ho hum
Each of the shapes has a relief of a barnyard animals face. The shapes are small and the animal images are set into the middle of the shape, making them difficult to see and touch.
Where are the doors?
The barn doors fell off their hinges on the first day. I put them back several times over the next few days, but eventually I gave up and just put the doors in the cupboard.
Without the doors ...
* Without the doors, the toy quickly loses what little appeal it initially held.
* Without the doors, there are only two openings to sort the shapes.
* Without the doors, the sorted shapes immediately fall out
leaving the toy out of sorts, which is not a good for a shape sorter toy.
Recommendations:
If you're looking for a toy with barn characters then try the Fisher Price Little People Barn.
If you're looking for a shape sorter toy then try the V-Tech shape sorter car.
