The Bottom Line: This is a great toy, that makes a lot of noises, and offers a baby plenty to do.
The Fisher Price Company has been around longer than I have, and their sheer number of products is overwhelming. They really do have what seems to be a monopoly of the toy market for little ones. Thankfully the majority of their products are excellent, both in quality and what they can do for a baby's development. A lot of their toys are a bit expensive, and the Stack Around Silly Town is no exception at $39.99. Yet this toy has provided hours of entertainment to my ten month old son, and it is supposedly good for those up to three years of age. Actually I like it, so perhaps its age range extends to your mid-thirties.

This toy was fairly easy to set up. For that I am thankful, as it required no major tools. I've had a lot of stress putting baby toys together, and unlike my wife who has an engineering background, I'm one of those folks who can mess up the simplest of assemblies. This one just required placing the pieces into small holes, and sliding them together. Some of the larger plastic pieces did require a Phillips style screwdriver, but even this idiot can eventually figure out how to get them in. I've always been good at screwing thankfully.
My son just loves the colors, shapes, and sounds that are included with this toy. It has an orange slide, that he can place one of the provided cars on, and press the red button on top to release it. The car doesn't roll down that fast, but it entertains him, as does the orange lever on the right side. There's a little window with a lower storage section, in which he can depress the lever, and it will drop a block that's provided into it. The bell like noise it makes is funny, and has caused him to laugh, and repeat this again. This "cause and effect" section is great for his development, and provides stimulation when he's grumpy.
The biggest section is the middle part. Here's where there's a wheel that can be spun, to play either "Yankee Doodle," "Pop Goes the Weasel," and a whole host of nursery songs. There are no lyrics, as it is just the musical tunes, but they are loud. Thankfully there are two volume settings, for a parents peace of mind. As soon as my son spins the pink and blue wheel, there are yellow lights next to it that illuminate, and circular smiley faced objects that go up and down. Here he can place the included blocks on top of them. In a way, these moving smiley faces remind me of "whackamole", that's at Chuckie Cheese's.
Next to the slide, is a roofed house, that looks a bit like where the "Keebler Elves" live. Underneath it is a large storage area, where I've attempted to keep the included cars and blocks. My son loves to lift the blue top, that makes a noise each time, and throw the objects I've placed there all around the room. It makes him happy, so as long as it keeps him from screaming, I'm all for it. As many times as the blue top area has been opened and closed, its amazing that it is still hanging on. The lower area has a bit more storage space, so if your baby has some small toys, it can work for those as well to what's included with this one.
This toy certainly is durable. The plastics are tougher than most, and my son has proven the strength of it, by standing on it, jumping on it, and also biting this toy numerous times. He also seems to like beating it with his fists, and due to the fact that there's nothing "gentle" about him, this toy should survive any household. The size of it in length is fairly large, but its not so big that it will cause any storage concerns, and you can put it away easily enough. The bright colors make it an appealing toy for visitors of "baby age," and my wife and I have enjoyed other little ones playing with this as well. Its one of the most popular toys in the "playroom", and has provided hours of entertainment.
What I really love about Fisher Price, is that each of the toys is easy to clean. All you need with this one, is a bit of water, some soap, and a few paper towels. Other than baby messes, it doesn't collect dust or grime easily, and for that I am appreciative. You can find Stack Around Silly Town at traditional brick and mortar stores, or go online to purchase it. Due to this being my son's favorite toy, and that it has quite a few "Cause and Effect" options, I'd say it is a fine value even with its relatively high cost. The fact that every child at our house has been all over it, says that it is "a hit," and for that reason alone I fully recommend it. The three C batteries needed for power last a long time, and I'm hoping that my son and other children will love it for years.
