Cons: Spin noise - although this doesn't really bother us.
The Bottom Line: Terrific washer, easy to use presets with lots of adjustments for water temp, spin speed, etc. Automatic load sensing for balance and load size.

We purchased this washer in June 2006 as we knew we needed a good washer for the addition of baby laundry, including cloth diapers. This Fisher Paykel is Awesome! I don't rave about appliances often but this is by far the best washer I've ever used. We use the "Favorite" cycle that my husband programmed (easy to do). Otherwise we use the presets, adjusting for water temp, spin speed, long soak time, etc. as needed. I love being able to customize the presets this way. It has also cut down on our dryer usage, especially when we use a cycle with a high rate of spin speed. With this washer you add the detergent directly into the agitator (you lift up the top). I think this helps clothes get cleaner, and certainly distributes the detergent more evenly throughout the load, as the detergent is pulled from the bottom and mixed with water that sprays out from the top once the basin has begun to fill. The motor and basin technology is different from most washers (there are fewer things to break, as I understand it) and the spin cycle sounds a lot different - we compare it to a jet engine, although not that loud. The lid locks when spinning, for safety. The washer has a pause button, automatic load balancing, and automatic load sensing to determine how much water is needed. We disabled the beeping that informs you when the wash is done. I like being able to disable that sort of thing. We are very, very happy with this washer.
