Pros: Large capacity, manual override of automatic water level.
Cons: Shreds clothing and towels, leaks water onto the floor.
The Bottom Line: My advice for buying a new washing machine is to find a machine that uses old-fashioned washing technology instead of the expensive, defective, energy efficient machines on the market today.

| agitated's Full Review: Fisher and Paykel EcoSmart GWL15 Top Load Washer |
My husband and I just purchased this machine in November of 2007 to replace a 2yr old Kenmore that had also given us problems. After countless hours of reading conflicting reviews for all of the washers available on the market today, we chose to go with this model for several reasons. The features we liked were the simple design, the large capacity, the traditional agitator, and the ability to choose your water level (many new machines do not use enough water).
As soon as we started using the machine, we realized our mistake in this purchase. The agitator is designed in such a way as to literally tangle and rip up your clothes. The towels are subject to the worse abuse, every towel comes out of the wash with threads pulled out of it and ready for the trash bin.
The machine was purchased at PC Richards. We told them of the problems two days after our purchase in the hopes that they would allow us to return it and purchase a different machine from them. They did not agree to exchange the machine. So instead they had a technician come out and replace the defective agitator with another defective one. As you can guess already, the clothes and towels are still getting destroyed.
As if that problem was not bad enough, the washer has now begun to leak water every time that it is used. Another call to PC Richards has only led to yet another service call being put in for this machine.
By the way, I also called and emailed Fisher and Paykel myself to see if I could get the manufacturer to replace this defective machine. The were not cooperative either. So much for their 2yr guarantee on their products.
Overall, I must say this machine is the most disappointing appliance purchase I have ever made and it angers me to no end to think that my only recourse will be to buy yet another washing machine.
AGAIN - IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY - DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!
